Oct 24 2018 ·0Once again, the Heading Home to Dinner event at Boston Design Week was a huge success. In just the 2nd year, we raised $111,000! These funds will pay a year’s rent for four families ~ yippee! This was also my 2nd year designing for the event and I cannot wait for next year. In the meantime, take a peek at some of the amazing tabletop and bar cart designs from this year’s event and a few ideas I spotted that you can easily incorporate into your own holiday tablescape…
Daisy’s Baltimore Baby Shower
Jun 29 2016 ·1As you may know from my previous posts, my newborn granddaughter Daisy is facing several health challenges. I am happy to report that while testing is ongoing, Daisy is thriving at home with Emily and Nick. Daisy is so deeply loved by so many! A few weeks ago I attended an intimate baby shower given for the proud new parents. Hosted by Nick’s mom Julie Anne and a dear family friend, Miss Diane, it was a lovely affair with many heartfelt and thoughtful details. I couldn’t resist sharing a peek…

A Poem & A Painting: Mise En Place, Les Oeufs
Aug 24 2015 ·0I am off on a mini girls getaway ~ a few days on Nantucket with dear friends is a wonderful way to celebrate the all to quickly fading days of Summer. As I’ve been doing on most of my trips this Summer, I’ll be taking along my watercolors and brushes. Before I packed up my supplies, I did some experimenting with watercolor still life paintings. While I’m not much of a cook or a baker, I enjoyed creating and painting this scene featuring eggs, a wooden spoon and a mixing bowl. Oh the possibilities!
Instead of sharing a poem this week I thought I’d share two recipes featuring eggs ~ one savory and one sweet. Enjoy!
Pike Place Market
Aug 19 2015 ·0My quick trip to Seattle in July was filled with so much amazing sightseeing, including the incredible Chihuly Garden & Glass exhibit. Perhaps my 2nd favorite spot we visited was Pike Place Market. Known as “Seattle’s epicenter of fresh produce, specialty foods and independent businesses”, Pike Place is the 33rd most visited attraction in the world!
Pike Place Market is one of the oldest continuously operated markets in the country. With a divine location right on the Elliott Bay waterfront, the Public Market opened in 1907 with the mission to have the “consumer meet the producer”.
A Recipe & A Painting: Chicken Soup
Feb 17 2015 ·2With temperatures dipping below zero during our brutal stretch of Winter here in the Boston area, I thought I would cheer myself up with a painting of the ingredients of a delicious and soothing soup. Of course after painting the all the ingredients, why not actually make soup as well?…
Rustic Alaskan Wilderness Meets Glam 50th Birthday Party
Jan 14 2015 ·0That title is a mouthful, isn’t it! Just wait until you see the party ~ pardon my phone pics, but trust me, it was gorgeous.
Over the holidays we attended a very special {BIG} Birthday Party. The Birthday Girl’s husband and her best friends surprised her with one of the most charming parties I have ever attended.
The location was tricky, there were about 50 guests and music was a necessity. The party had to have a theme, of course. Allow me to review the facts about the Birthday Girl:
Holiday Cookie Swap
Dec 17 2014 ·0Tis the season for gathering with friends and family, indulging in treats and merriment. I was so disappointed to have to miss my dear friend Gina’s recent annual Holiday Cookie Swap party so I thought I might try to make up for it with a “virtual” cookie swap.
Posh Pinterest Board: Thanksgiving Gatherings
Nov 25 2014 ·0One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving, aside from coming together with friends and family and sharing delicious food of course, is creating a festive & unique table to gather around. Here are a few of my favorite inspiration photos from my very own Thanksgiving Gatherings Pinterest board…
Weir River Farm to Table Benefit
Sep 17 2014 ·0I recently attended the 3rd Annual Farm to Table Dinner at the Weir Farm in Hingham. The event, hosted by the Trustees of the Reservation as a fundraiser, has sold out quickly each year since it began. The amazing food and beautiful nature-inspired event design make this dinner an outstanding affair.
The Farm to Table Dinner takes place in the upper pasture at Weir River Farm. The dinner is described as an “open air feast {that} is a true celebration of the farm, land preservation, local chefs, a late summer’s bounty, and the food artisans who cultivate it.”
Posh Parties: Designing A Bridal Shower
Jul 30 2014 ·0Tis the season to shower brides with love and best wishes. Yes, my head is filled with hearts and flowers and romance since my own daughter, Emily, has gotten engaged. This weekend was the icing the on the cake (hehehe) as Emily co-hosted the Bridal Shower of her dear friend Jessica at my home.
Here is a look of the event from the “behind the scenes” to the actual party, along with some of my tips for a memorable and meaningful gathering. Hopefully you will find some inspiration for your next event!
BlogTour Milan: Restaurant Reviews
May 15 2014 ·0As promised, here is a sampling of some of the wonderful restaurants we visited with BlogTour Milan (and Venice). As you might expect, the food and libations were delicious and the design of the spaces was equally appealing. We are talking about Italy after all!

“Life is a combination of magic and pasta”
~Federico Fellini
One of the highlights of our trip to Italy was attending a cooking class at Ristorante Il Ritrovo . Chef Salvatore was a wonderful, engaging teacher and just the epitome of an Italian chef. Chef Salvatore views cooking as his art and he excels at his art!
Portland, Maine: A City of Art, Design & Culinary Delights
Feb 25 2014 ·0This past weekend I spent two beautiful sunny days visiting my son, Fred, in Portland, Maine, his new home. My time in Portland was such a treat on so many levels. Today I’m so excited to share some of the highlights of my visit…
How do you know you’re in Maine? This (very tame) moose at a rest stop on the Turnpike is a good indication! I just had to take this photo:
Styling Tables for a Valentine’s Day Dinner Party
Feb 11 2014 ·0I got the best phone call the other day from a my favorite client of mine, G. The task? Styling two tables for a Valentine Dinner party ~ YES! Have I mentioned that Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday of the year??…
My next step was to gather information about the fete: number of guests (18!), serving style (buffet) and location of the dining tables (dining room & kitchen). I was already very familiar with the house because G and I have collaborated on several projects so I knew the color palette and her style.
Chocolate Lover’s Class at Ralph’s Wine & Spirits
Feb 06 2014 ·0Ralph’s Wines and Spirits is a gem of a local business offering libations, classes and tastings at their Hingham shop. At Ralph’s, their guiding principle is that “wine, beer and cocktails are all better enjoyed when accompanied by great food!” Their goal at Ralph’s “isn’t just to sell you our product, it is to educate you on it, taste you on it and hopefully introduce your palate to nothing it has ever experienced before!”
I was the lucky recipient of the gift of a Corks & Forks class at Ralph’s by my dear friend G. Along another sweet friend, D, we attended the Chocolate Lover’s Class, conducted by Nicole Coady, owner of Fixx Chocolates and sommelier Ralph Herson. Oh, did we have fun!

Deneen McQueen-Chippari & the Whole Soul Wellness Kitchen
Jul 09 2013 ·0Yesterday I introduced you to my friend Deneen.
As I mentioned, Deneen is a certified Holistic Health Coach. Over the last couple of years she has worked enthusiastically first toward her certification and now building her business. Previously I had known Deneen “only” as a dance instructor, a Cabaret star, an outstanding mother and wife and a devoted friend. A few weeks ago however, I had the privilege of seeing Deneen in action as a Health Coach and Instructor at one of her Lunch and Learn programs.
No surprise, she was a star!…
