Fearless Color, Part 3: The Kitchen
Oct 30 2015 ·0This is the 3rd and final installment of posts featuring the home of my client who has a zest for living and no fear when selecting paint colors. Today I’m showing off her kitchen ~ be sure to check out the Living Room and the Family Room in her cozy, colorful home.
The Kitchen space is compact but open, though not fully, to the Family Room. We knew the design of the two spaces would have to complement one another but we also wanted each space to be somewhat unique with it’s own design.
A Poem & A Painting: Take A Seat
Oct 26 2015 ·0This week’s painting is one of the first interiors I painted in Franny Andahazy‘s class. Franny is a friend and a talented artist and designer. l learn so much whenever I work with her! High Point Market Fall 2015: Trends and Favorites From Afar
Oct 22 2015 ·0One of the biggest events of the Design Year took place over this past week, the Fall Market at High Point in North Carolina. What is High Point Market? It is “the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world, bringing more than 75,000 people to High Point every six months. Serious retail home furnishings buyers can be found in High Point twice a year because if you can’t find it in High Point…it probably doesn’t exist.”{source}. While I have never attended a High Point Market in person, I can assure you that a visit is on my “Design Bucket List” and is actually in the works for the next Market in April! While I was unable to attend this edition of High Point, lucky for me (and you), many of my design friends and colleagues were there and documented their finds on social media. I thought it would be fun to share some of my picks for Trends and Faves from High Point ~ even if I was 900 miles away. Come take a peek…

Boston Design Market 2015 at the Boston Design Center
Oct 16 2015 ·0Last week featured the annual Boston Design Market (aka Design Days) at the Boston Design Center. This is one of my favorite times “in the building” because I am always interested in the latest products and design trends. One of my goals is to be current for my clients so we can create cutting edge spaces.
Wayfair’s Heart Home Conference in Boston
Oct 15 2015 ·0The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of seminars, panel discussions, design trend projections and meeting elite designers as well as connecting with dear colleagues and friends. It just get any better than that for a creative person like me ~ so energizing and affirming! I am thrilled to be able to share with you some of the latest design and social media trends and insights that I gleaned from attending these events.
The first event I attended was the inaugural Heart Home conference in Boston. Presented by Wayfair (a zillion things home across all styles and budgets ~ sound familiar?), this event was Wayfair‘s answer to the blogging conferences held across the country and was meant to attract “everyone who shares a love of all things home—from bloggers to designers and other lifestyle entrepreneurs”.
A Poem & A Painting: Carolann’s Antique Bottles
Oct 12 2015 ·1This week’s poem and painting have an antique flair. I painted a still life of antique bottles and thought this poem was a nice accompaniment…
Em’s Wedding: Q & A with the Bride and the Mother of the Bride
Oct 09 2015 ·1I thought it would be fun to get our different perspectives on the wedding while it was still fresh in our minds so I tasked my assistant, Jen, with helping me come up with a questionnaire about the wedding planning and the big day itself. Em and I completed our answers separately but as you’ll see we were largely on the same page…
Behind the Design: Emily & Nick’s Romantic Newport Wedding
Oct 07 2015 ·0Friends and longtime readers know that my daughter Emily got married this Spring. It’s been a whirlwind before and since then but I am finally ready to share some of the beautiful details of that incredible day.
When my daughter Emily was born I started planning her wedding ~in my heart. Never a word was uttered, but I had a folder (the paper kind, not computer) of ideas for her big day. I was going to give her everything she could ever want…
