What’s Traditional Now?

Last week I attended a seminar at the Boston Design Center featuring Krissa Rossbund , Senior Style Editor at Traditional Home Magazine with special guest Estelle Bond Guralnick, the Boston Regional Editor.
It was an enlightening program. Today when designers describe their projects, traditional is often not an adjective they use. Designers tend to use words like transitional, contemporary, eclectic and modern~ in contrast to “traditional” which may sound a bit dated. Well, after attending this presentation, I can assure you that Traditional Now has a lot to offer in design! Here are a few of the highlights..
Traditional Now is finding a style that is soul deep. Make sure your style is NOT a mix of everything, but rather that your style stands for something.
-Traditional Now is living with books and decorating with them. I for one hope libraries never go out of fashion. I do I love my books.
-Traditional Now is Color, yes bold and beautiful color.
-Traditional Now is Elegance, Glamour and Bling (yea!)
-Traditional Now is Personality: a style of your own, surrounding yourself with travel mementos and collections:
-Traditional Now is Entertaining At Home, relaxed but polished
-Traditional Now is Making Memories. Just look at this lovely home dressed for Christmas, note the original, creative design made with the green roping over the mantle:
-Traditional Now is enduring…
After the presentation I was fortunate enough to have my photo taken with the esteemed and lovely Estelle Bond Guralnick at the Lee Jofa Showroom, Boston Design Center:
Be sure to take a peek at the latest issue of Traditional Home, you may be surprised by what you see!
