Weir River Farm to Table Benefit

I recently attended the 3rd Annual Farm to Table Dinner at the Weir Farm in Hingham. The event, hosted by the Trustees of the Reservation as a fundraiser, has sold out quickly each year since it began. The amazing food and beautiful nature-inspired event design make this dinner an outstanding affair.
The Farm to Table Dinner takes place in the upper pasture at Weir River Farm. The dinner is described as an “open air feast {that} is a true celebration of the farm, land preservation, local chefs, a late summer’s bounty, and the food artisans who cultivate it.”
{all photos are my own, except as noted}
As soon as I approached the field area, the tents with their whimsical pointed peaks hinted at what a truly spectacular visual and tasteful experience this was going be.
The masterminds (3 women) behind this evening set the stage. As soon as I entered the field and saw an enormous, overflowing container of ivory hydrangeas and other garden flowers I knew I was in for treat.
Love the place cards and the use of the shutters in the display:
A view of the tables before the tents filled with hungry guests
The farmhouse style tables would ultimately seat 175 and were beautiful.
Before the dinner we sipped Prosecco and nibbled on the most delicious ‘Starters’, including Duxbury Creek Oysters…heaven!
As appetizers were served, the guests were entertained by a strolling Bluegrass ensemble…
As we were called to the tables via a dinner bell (of course), I spied the menu. Prepared by the chef from Tosca, this was going to be a meal to remember….
Each table had dozens of mason jars of varying sizes filled with local garden-grown fleurs. Each arrangement was beautiful and original…loved them!
My two immediate dinner companions and friends, Gina and Lisa. Don’t they look stunning?
The first course was Heirloom Tomato Crostini on Grilled Sourdough Bread. Yes, it tasted as divine as it looks…
The wines were supplied by Ruby Wines and my friend Pete. Pete arranged for the perfect wine pairing with each dinner course ~ so delicious.
Between courses two and three, we had to stretch our legs and couldn’t resist posing for some photos with the cows…
The event commenced at 3:00pm and as twilight fell (real) candles were lit on the tables and tiny white lights surrounded us creating a truly magical setting.
As most of you know, I am a glam girl at heart. Typically my designs are filled with color, reflective surfaces and a touch of Hollywood. However, that doesn’t mean that I wasn’t inspired with the organic designs of this event ~ on the contrary! Each detail was refined, thoughtfully planned out and executed perfectly! If only I had a garden I would consider hosting my own Farm to Table dinner! If you have a garden, consider hosting a Farm to Table for a few of your friends. What a grand way to salute Summer and look forward to Autumn!
Congratulations to The Trustees of the Reservation for hosting a fabulous, successful event and to all the wonderful local sponsors for helping to make it all possible!
