A Poem & A Painting: Christmas Cardinal
Dec 21 2015 ·1I am continually fascinated by birds, but most especially in the winter. I became a “bird watcher” with my stepdad Marston. He always fed and tended to the feathered friends who visited our yard in the cold weather.
A Poem & A Painting: A Donut With Kelley
Nov 16 2015 ·0I am taking a painting class with the ever so talented Kelley MacDonald, a dear friend and amazing artist. Donuts are one of Kelley’s signature subjects and it was fun (and somewhat challenging) to paint in her style. This painting of mine was done during an exercise in which we counted our brush strokes. Three Heavenly Days of ART
Nov 19 2014 ·0This past weekend I treated myself to a 3 Day Workshop at the South Shore Arts Center taught by Kimberly Alemian called Perception-Abstraction: A Work in Process. I was so excited to have the opportunity to explore this medium in depth as an artist.
The class was an intense experience for me. I worked much larger than my usual 6”x 6” panel boards, using 20”x 20” canvas, 22″ x 30″ illustration board and several other LARGE papers. I used watercolor, pastels, oil pastels and oil paint partnered with charcoal and graphite ~ and 3”-4” brushes. It was an extreme experience! But oh how I learned to make art differently! Come take a peek at our exercises…
