Historic Hingham Home: Media Room Update
Sep 22 2016 ·0Welcome back to the Historic Hingham Antique Colonial home I first shared with you last week. Previously, we toured the redesigned Family Room. Today we are moving to the front of the house and the Media Room. This room is where my client and her family entertain guests and have friends over to watch sporting events and the like. Once again they required ample seating, durable, stain-resistant fabrics and above all ~ comfort.
As you can see in these ‘Before’ photos, the room had some beautiful features (lots windows and detailed moldings) but there wasn’t enough seating and the furniture that was there wasn’t really in keeping with my client’s tailored aesthetic…
A Poem & A Painting: Inspired by Southern Home Magazine & Rivers Spencer
Jul 18 2016 ·0I am back after a heavenly week in Philadelphia with Daisy, Emily, and Nick. I am thrilled to say that Daisy is making great strides and what a privilege it was to witness her progress in person!
In between snuggling, feeding, walking, and kissing Daisy, I did manage to do a bit of painting. As I have mentioned before, it is near impossible to travel with oil paints. I find that my watercolor palette is perfect for travel and my watercolor “sketches” are a great base to work from later. This week’s painting was inspired by a Southern Home magazine cover featuring a living room designed by Rivers Spencer. While Tony Bennett may have left his heart in San Francisco, I certainly left mine in Philadelphia…
A Poem & A Painting: Take A Seat
Oct 26 2015 ·0This week’s painting is one of the first interiors I painted in Franny Andahazy‘s class. Franny is a friend and a talented artist and designer. l learn so much whenever I work with her! As you can imagine, I love painting interiors and I thought this poem (quote) was an appropriate sentiment…
Fearless Color, Part 2: The Family Room
Sep 16 2015 ·0The Color Party Continues! Last week I shared the Living Room space in this fabulous home. Today I present the Family Room. The Family Room is adjacent to, but separate from, the Living Room and open to the Kitchen (which I’ll be showing you soon). All the spaces co-exist nicely but each one has it’s own personality. Come take a peek…
Fearless Color: A Living Room Refresh
Sep 09 2015 ·0This is a story about a woman with a colorful personality and a zest for life. I met her socially and was immediately smitten with her big smile and her vibrant spirit. She has undeniable charisma and I was just drawn to her. When she called and asked me to work with her on her home I was elated!
As I arrived for the first consultation and tour, I was met by a white picket fence covered with climbing red roses. The house is a traditional (renovated) white clapboard farmhouse near the center of town. The grounds were designed with flowering trees and a perennial border garden. I could hardly wait to enter this enchanted cottage…

One of my latest projects, on Cape Cod, is for a career woman who has traveled the world. I am enjoying our collaboration because she has a colorful, artistic, and global style that is translating into a comfortable but outstanding design.

South Shore Interior Designer: Oceanside Penthouse Project
Jul 30 2013 ·1I’m so excited to be able to share with you a new interior design project that I am working on. The setting is a stunning oceanside penthouse space with incredible views. My client is a gentleman whose taste is both masculine and sophisticated. He works in the hotel industry and has owned quite a few homes which has certainly influenced his sense of style. It has been a delight to collaborate with him.
While the space is gorgeous, it is not without challenges. For example, vaulted ceilings and large expanses of windows are beautiful, but how to effectively incorporate them into a posh interior design? Today I’m sharing the preview (before) photos of the space and you’ll see what I mean…
Diary of an Interior Designer: Cape Cod Seaside Home, The Living Room
May 28 2013 ·0The Living Room is always the center of the home and a gathering place for family. It is a place to come together for celebrations, conversation and the making of memories. In this house the Living Room is literally and figuratively in the center of the home. The prime location means the space boasts breathtaking, panoramic views of the waterfront. This Living Room is also replete with character-building architectural details ~ which means we had another great starting point for our interior design. Come on in…
