Historic Hingham Home: Family Room Update
Sep 14 2016 ·2Today I am excited to share with you a recent project I completed for a wonderful family. The home is an Antique Colonial, in the heart of historic downtown Hingham. The home was extensively renovated in 2004 so all of the amenities and framework for a functional family space were in place. However my client wanted the interior design of the home to be more polished, cohesive, and functional for their young and active family. I actually was referred to this client by Winston Flowers in downtown Hingham and it turned out to be a great match!
Cape Cod Golf Course Condo: The Office
Aug 26 2016 ·0While the Cape Cod Golf Course condo I designed with my fabulous client is primarily a weekend retreat, we all know that in this day and age, work tends to follow us everywhere. Thus it was important to have an Office space in the condo ~ but just because a space is utilitarian doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful and reflect personal taste and design aesthetic.
The Office is on the main floor of the condo, separated from the open concept Kitchen, Family Room, and Dining Room spaces by French doors.
Cape Cod Golf Course Condo: The Family Room
Aug 10 2016 ·0I’d like to invite you to pull up a seat, nosh on a gummy lobster (or two) and take a peek at the Family Room of the Cape Cod Golf Course Condo project. In case you missed the other spaces I’ve shared so far, you can tour the Dining Room and the Bedrooms to catch up. Now, onto the Family Room!
Cape Cod Golf Course Condo: The Bedrooms
Jul 15 2016 ·0I recently completed a project with the most wonderful client. She is a single professional woman who works with facts and figures in her career. That no-nonsense mindset is softened by her kind spirit, most amazing jewelry, and willingness to add color, pattern, and exquisite custom touches in the design of her weekend getaway. She has traveled extensively in Europe (particularly Greece and Italy) and wanted to incorporate her European style and treasured artwork into this new-to-her space. I had the best time working on this Cape Cod Golf Course condo project and believe the end result is a collaboration that truly reflects my client and her personality.
Over the course of several months, we transformed nearly every inch of this previously bland, beige, and boring condo. To begin our tour, come take a peek at the bedrooms…
30 Paintings in 30 Days, Day 25: Goldilocks Etude Chair
Jan 25 2016 ·0I just love painting furniture, hmmmm, I wonder why? This painting was inspired by Kravet’s Etude chair. Isn’t it exquisite? I’m sure Goldilocks would love to sit here…

A Visit to the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, Part 2
Oct 16 2013 ·1Continuing on with our tour of the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, I have more pictures of more beautiful spaces to share!
First stop, this “tented” atrium area. I love the connection with the outdoor green space here along with the zippy Jonathan Adler fabric on the pillows.
Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, Part 1
Oct 15 2013 ·0Last week I traveled to New York with fellow Boston-area interior designer and friend, Laurie Gorelick, to preview the newly renovated Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. It was the most spectacular makeover I could have imagined!
As you may know, the Ronald McDonald House is a haven for families, a home-like place to stay while their child is receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital. There are many Ronald McDonald Houses all over the country including one here in Boston.
This particular Ronald McDonald House on Long Island was started in 1981 under the leadership Lyn Jurick, a powerhouse of a woman, who is still involved to this day. She had the help of many, including her designers William Diamond and Anthony Baratta. The house has served many families over the years and was in need of some tender loving care.
Blogfest 2012: Kravet Studio Tour
Jun 07 2012 ·1“Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at thing in a different way .”
~Edward de Bono
Without a doubt, the highlight of Blogfest 2012 in New York City for me was the Kravet Studio Tour. When I begin a design project I always start with fabrics for inspiration. Naturally, on the morning of the Kravet Studio Tour I was the first one to arrive and secure my place on the first tour of the day. You can imagine what a thrill it was for me to have a chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at the studio where so many of my favorite lines are created!
The first studio we visited was the carpet shop. Look at this array of wool yarns ~ the colors are so pure and glorious.
This is a carpet sample that caught my eye~animal print of course. I can think of a dozen spaces this would be perfect in.
The next studio we visited displays Kravet fabrics that are available in showrooms across the country, I have used many of these and they are luxurious…The next stop on our tour really captivated me. Here we got a peek at custom fabric design. The designer starts with original artwork, in this case a pencil drawing. Using a sophisticated scanning process to digitize the artwork, the design is then tweaked and reproduced on either cotton, linen or a leather-like fabric.
The designer extraordinaire has created this “racing” fabric from these original sketches, isn’t it amazing? He was so proud to share his story, can’t you see it in his smile? In the Brunschwig & Fils area we saw architectural plans for a brand new showroom.
Here is a Studio wall filled with colorful Brunschwig &Fils fabrics.
Can you believe that once upon a time, this wood block was used to print this Lee Jofa fabric? So interesting to get a glimpse into history.
I felt right at home in this section of the studio. This small corner is where an artist paints designs for some of the fabrics. I would love to have this job for a week…or maybe even two??
Her desk is quite petite but somehow she makes it all work, such a delightful jumble!
Her creative corner…
Finally, no fabric line would be complete without fabric trim. Luxurious trim is a favorite accessory of mine when creating pillows and other accessories. Take a peek at this sumptuous trim book:
As you can see, the two floors of the Kravet Studio are jam packed with talent and creativity. Having been treated to this incredible tour, I will certainly appreciate the beauty in every fabric and textile I touch more than ever. Above all, I will think of all the people I met who take such pride in their creation. Thank you!

Pamela

Pamela's Posh Picks: Kravet Soleil Fabrics
Feb 27 2012 ·0I must be basking in the afterglow of my trip to South Beach, because I’ve still got sun and warm weather on my mind. This mild New England winter is such a tease, warm days out on the terrace can’t be far away!
Kravet Soleil is a line of indoor/outdoor fabric that marries style and modern technology making it an equally perfect choice for outdoor furniture or family-loved indoor pieces. I absolutely adore the colors these fabrics come in, as well as the playful, modern designs. UV protection, superior durability, and stain resistance all merge to make these fabrics uber-functional. What an outstanding combination!
Here are some of my favorites from the Kravet Soleil Lifestyles collection, the fabric names alone will put you in a tropical mood!
Love the lively turquoise colors and the geometric prints~ where can you envision these fabrics?
The use of neutrals on these lounge chairs with the punch of citron on the umbrellas is so tropical, love it!
A clothesline peek of the fabric line~ which ones might you pick for your terrace, boat or deck? They’re all so fun and fashionable, surely there’s not a bad choice amongst them!
xo,
Pamela
