A Poem & A Painting: Cozy Corner
Nov 14 2016 ·0Slowly but surely my home is coming together after being turned upside down thanks to unplanned renovations due to water damage. I have been working hard (thank goodness for my dear friend and installer Paul!) and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week ~ fingers crossed, I think I’ll be ready to welcome guests into my home!
A Poem & A Painting: Inspired by Christopher Guy
Feb 22 2016 ·0I love the whimsical yet uber-elegant style of Christopher Guy‘s furniture designs. His seating in particular is posh and elegant with a dash of fairy tale fancy. I love this Christopher Guy quote on his design philosophy:
30 Paintings in 30 Days: Day 20, Orange Chevron
Jan 22 2016 ·0Playing catch up with the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge ~ that’s what wrist surgery will do for you! I’m on the mend now though and looking forward to finishing strong. This painting is the last in my Orange series ~ of course it had to be an Interior!
A Poem & A Painting: Pink Fainting Couch (Day 10)
Jan 11 2016 ·0Today’s painting is serving the dual purpose of being Day 10 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge and my weekly Poem & Painting post. Pink Fainting Couch is the last painting in a Pink Series. I was tickled to take my inspiration from an interior by the incomparable Hunt Slonem whom I had the privilege of meeting at the Boston Design Center when he was introducing his fabric line through Lee Jofa. He is colorful, soulful and indeed a kind and lovely man. It was my pleasure to end this “Pink” series with an interior (of course) and one that features his fabric.
A Poem & A Painting: Take A Seat
Oct 26 2015 ·0This week’s painting is one of the first interiors I painted in Franny Andahazy‘s class. Franny is a friend and a talented artist and designer. l learn so much whenever I work with her! As you can imagine, I love painting interiors and I thought this poem (quote) was an appropriate sentiment…
A Painting & A Poem: Pink Pillow
Sep 21 2015 ·0This week’s artwork was created for one of my interior designer friends, Linda Holt. My inspiration was a photo of Pierre Frey’s Paris apartment that Veronika Miller of Modenus posted on her Facebook page. Ah, Paris…
A Poem & A Painting: A Watercolor Interior
Jun 29 2015 ·0I’m popping in to share my latest work from my watercolor class. As you probably know, I love painting Interiors in oil. Inspired by designer and artist Mark Hampton and his book of watercolors, Mark Hampton, The Art of Friendship, I am now attempting to paint Interior scenes using watercolors as well.
A Poem & A Painting: Comfort
Dec 01 2014 ·0“Comfort is not just about whether a chair feels good to sit in.
It’s about being comfortable in all aspects of your life.”
~Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams
As has been well-documented on my blog, I adore everything about Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. From the products to the craftsmanship to the amazing employees, it’s all top notch. I painted this week’s painting for my friend John Trifone, Director of Sales at Mitchell Gold in Boston. What do you think of my artistic interpretation of a Mitchell Gold room?…
30 Paintings in 30 Days: Day 18
Jan 18 2014 ·0Yes, I know I missed Day 17 ~ not in my life thank God, it was actually a very full day. I just couldn’t paint outside of class. I am sooo disappointed in myself for not completing a painting. However, I did have the chance to do many other wonderful things ~ no regrets! I am back today…kind of. This painting is an old favorite (not a new work)…
30 Paintings in 30 Days: Day 15
Jan 15 2014 ·0Wednesday is always a tough middle-of-the-week day for me. It seems I’m constantly running a bit behind and yet the end of the work week is still quite a ways off. In order to give myself a little bit of a respite, I opted for a truly petite painting of my favorite piece of furniture: the chair.
30 Paintings in 30 Days: Day 11
Jan 11 2014 ·0This one is from my archives. I was working on one with eclipses and was just not satisfied with how it was going. I didn’t want to post a painting that I was not happy with. Let’s see what tomorrow brings after a long, good nights sleep.
