Pamela’s Posh Picks: Desks
May 09 2013 ·1Yesterday I shared the Home Office of the amazing Cape Cod seaside home I’ve been featuring. We were fortunate to have an existing wall of built-ins, including a desk, in the room when we started the design process. Of course this isn’t always the case. A desk is the workhorse of any workspace and a key opportunity to marry beauty and function. Let’s take a peek at this week’s Posh Picks for Desks…

Pamela’s Posh Picks: Brizo Kitchen Faucets
Apr 25 2013 ·2During a renovation, particularly a kitchen project, both the client and interior designer invest a huge amount of time in making choices for the space. Cabinetry, flooring, appliances, textiles, pulls and knobs ~ the list goes on and on. One of the final details to be selected for a kitchen is often the faucet. While it can be tempting to skimp in this area, both in consideration and budget, I urge you not to. A faucet, whether SmartTouch or traditional, is a tactile element and can literally improve the quality of life of those who use it regularly by making mundane tasks easier and more beautiful. If you are planning a kitchen renovation, strongly consider making your faucet a featured design element ~ you won’t regret it!
This week’s Posh Picks are faucets from my favorite manufacturer: Brizo. No one combines form and function more beautifully than Brizo…
Spring Inspiration at Anthropologie
Apr 17 2013 ·0{Boston.com has put together an excellent list of ways you can help victims of Monday’s horrific events here in Boston}
Last week I was a guest speaker at Quincy College in a Design Program seminar. One of the questions that was asked was: “Where do you get your inspiration?”
The answer is simple: EVERYWHERE…
I don’t mean to sound coy, but if you learn how to see and use your senses to absorb your surroundings, it truly is…
Posh Pinterest Board of the Week: 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald
Jan 17 2013 ·1This week I’m pleased to introduce what I plan to be a regular feature, Posh Pinterest Board of the Week. While I love my Posh Palettes Presentation Panels, I also love the sheer volume and variety of images that Pinterest makes so easily accessible. I find it to be such a wonderful way to immerse myself in creativity and beautiful images all while staying organized.
To kick off this new feature, today I’m spotlighting one of my very own Pinterest boards: 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald. I hope you enjoy seeing some of my favorite pins from this board…
Recap: Brizo Fashion Week & Jason Wu, Part One
Sep 11 2012 ·1Most other designers follow trends, Jason Wu creates them.
This sentiment was expressed at the post-runway show cocktail party with Jason Wu last Friday during Brizo Fashion Week ~ and I couldn’t agree more! I am so proud and fortunate to count myself among the “Blogger 19” for Fall 2012, what an incredible trip!
My Design Projects: Teen Bathroom
Jun 26 2012 ·0A transformation is in the works!
I am excited to share with you one of several new projects that I am currently working on. You are in for a treat because I am able to show you the progression of this project in real time, as I am working on it. I hope you enjoy being along for the design journey!
Prioritized as the one of first spaces to be transformed in a larger project, this en suite bathroom for a teenage boy is quite small and ready for an update.
Here is the requisite “before” shot of the vanity in the existing bathroom:
and the 1 piece shower:
While certainly functional, the space does not reflect the aesthetic of the teenage boy who lives here.
My first step was to draw up a floor plan, a must for planning the space and ordering materials.
While we knew this bathroom would need to coordinate with the adjoining bedroom, I was curious to see what ideas my young client had for the overall design. During our initial design meeting we discussed the function of the room (sleeping, studying, entertaining friends) and color preferences (red). I knew I was going to have a great time with this young man he likes the color red! After a bit more delving, he told me about some posters he collected last summer. The posters are sophisticated in shades of charcoal, reds and other vivid hues. What a great jumping off point for the design of our project! Every design has to have an inspiration and this young man’s poster collection is ours.
After our discussion, I wrote up my ideas and met with Christine at Tile Showcase at the Boston Design Center.
We found some wonderful tile selections and Christine sketched a quick plan:
To make the plan come to life for you, I put together this mood board for the space:
Details:
1. Kyoto Grigio tile for the back wall
2. Sumi-e Tresse Silver Fish Natural glass mosaic tile for the side walls on the vertical and the floor ~ using the same tile on both surfaces will give the illusion of a larger space
3. Sigma Palermo faucet is one of the options for faucetry, I love the modern look of the polished chrome
Two of our options for wall color, both from Sherwin-Williams:
4. Monorail Silver
5. March Wind
Stay tuned to see progress, plus more on the bedroom design. I promise it is creative and amazing ~ and just wait until I show you the inspirational posters!

Posh Palettes Inspiration Board: Spring
Mar 27 2012 ·0“Oh Spring! I want to go out and feel you and get inspiration.”
~Emily Carr
Last week in the Boston area we enjoyed record breaking warmth. Temperatures topped 70 degrees and sunny cerulean blue skies were the norm for 5 days in a row. I felt like I was on vacation! Now the forsythia are blooming next to the daffodils and crocuses, and it is just splendid.
All of this warmth coupled with the afterglow of Alexa Hampton’s lecture and her amazing project boards inspired me to create a vibrant Spring Inspiration Board for some of my personal projects…
I was inspired by my current favorite color ORANGE~ which as you may recall just so happens to be the Pantone color of the year. Similar to my Presentation Panels for clients, I love to use texture, color, appeal to all of the senses. On this board, the scent of suntan lotion transports me right to the beach, a beach photo recalls memories of younger days, and a bright lipstick brings to mind salty, smudged kisses…
I love woven wood blinds any time of the year but particularly in the Spring and Summertime. Consider installing these versatile window coverings on a porch to shield you just enough from the direct sunshine and then easily roll them up when you want to admire the full view~
Ahhhh, the romance of a toile. Always a classic but so much more cheeky in orange and magenta, don’t you think?
The changing of the seasons invites you to take out all your colorful clothing and accessories. It seems that subliminally I tend to purchase clothes to match my interiors… I wouldn’t want to clash would I??
Just between us, it’s not really subliminal ;-).
The next time you want to approach a design project, why not put together an inspirational board for yourself? It’s so much fun and you just might surprise yourself with some unique textures and color combinations that you adore…
xo,
Pamela
