Best Summer Container Garden Tips
Jun 06 2018 ·3Do you love container gardens? I’ve always enjoyed selecting colorful and unique plant combinations for containers, even when I had a larger yard. Now that my deck is my only outdoor space, my container gardens have become even more of a focal point.
A Poem & A Painting: Orange Tulips
Jan 23 2017 ·0When Monday starts off rainy and dreary with more to come, there’s nothing like a cheerful painting to brighten my spirits. Today’s painting is an “oldie but a goodie”. This image has me dreaming of Spring and sun drenched tulips…
A Poem & A Painting: Dreaming Of Flowers, Always
Jan 16 2017 ·1You may recognize this week’s painting, I posted an “in progress” shot back in November. It usually doesn’t take me over 2 months to complete a painting but with design work, home renovations, the holidays and my BlogTour KBIS trip, this one took quite a while(!). I was thrilled to be able to spend time in my studio this weekend finishing it up. This is a larger canvas and I’m thrilled with how it turned out…
A Poem & A Painting: In Progress
Nov 07 2016 ·0Now that November is here it seems the sprint to the end of the year and the holidays is in full swing. I have been painting like crazy getting ready for a Girls Just Wanna Paint art show. We have an exhibition opening reception on November 30th, 6-8pm at the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell. Meanwhile, I am juggling several Interior Design projects including several changes in my own home. And yes, I am hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for 10(!). Wish me luck getting everything completed on time!

A Painting & A Poem: Sunflowers & Zinnias
Sep 12 2016 ·0Fall is in the air this morning and even the flowers are signaling that the days of Summer are starting to fade. Gone are June’s peonies, making room for the mums, sunflowers, and zinnias in the hues of Autumn. I was lucky enough to receive a beautiful bouquet of these flowers ~ though they may not be the bright pinks I favor earlier in the season, they do look very nice in a leopard print vase…
A Poem & A Painting: Red Roses in Emily’s Kitchen
Jul 25 2016 ·0My daughter Emily has a lovely vintage inspired mason jar set in her kitchen. While I was visiting the mason jar vases were filled with single red rose stems. I stole a few moments to paint them in my sketchbook. I love how they turned out. I’ve never met a room that wasn’t made lovelier with the addition of fresh flowers…
Daisy’s Baltimore Baby Shower
Jun 29 2016 ·1As you may know from my previous posts, my newborn granddaughter Daisy is facing several health challenges. I am happy to report that while testing is ongoing, Daisy is thriving at home with Emily and Nick. Daisy is so deeply loved by so many! A few weeks ago I attended an intimate baby shower given for the proud new parents. Hosted by Nick’s mom Julie Anne and a dear family friend, Miss Diane, it was a lovely affair with many heartfelt and thoughtful details. I couldn’t resist sharing a peek…

A Poem & A Painting: Autumn Bouquet
Nov 09 2015 ·0Over Halloween weekend I was fortunate to be able to spend a wonderful weekend in Nantucket with equally wonderful friends. Our hostess, my dear friend Sandy, once again opened her home to us and showered us with her hospitality. She had the most stunning Autumnal arrangement and I was inspired to paint a watercolor interpretation of it as a token of my thanks. I continue to travel with my watercolors and love how easy they are to use whenever the moods strikes.
A Poem & A Painting: A Watercolor Interior
Jun 29 2015 ·0I’m popping in to share my latest work from my watercolor class. As you probably know, I love painting Interiors in oil. Inspired by designer and artist Mark Hampton and his book of watercolors, Mark Hampton, The Art of Friendship, I am now attempting to paint Interior scenes using watercolors as well.
Guest Post: Glorious Graduation Party
Jun 10 2015 ·0Today I have a special treat for you ~ a guest post written by my friend and Assistant Extraordinaire, Jen Bowles. Jen recently designed and hosted one of the most creative and colorful graduation parties I’ve ever attended. Her daughter, Ebby, obviously deserved a wonderful party ~ she was Salutatorian of her class and gave an amazing speech at the graduation ceremony. I just love how Jen took a unique and personal theme and built the party around it. Come take a peek…
I guess you could say I enjoy planning parties ;-). For Ebby’s graduation party I knew I didn’t want a typical theme ~ no high school colors (green & white), no paper goods with bright primary colors. Not that there’s anything wrong with those things, I just strive to be more unique and personal when I design a party. So I looked to Ebby for inspiration. Her middle name is Blossom, she loves books, reading, and her job at the library–boom, theme!
A Poem & A Painting: Watercolor Flowers
May 26 2015 ·0As you know, we worked hard to include many special details in the design of Em & Nick’s wedding. One of these details was hand-painted cards for each guest table number. I painted the flowers and Em added the table numbers with her beautiful calligraphy. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to come up with enough flowers I could paint (well), but somehow I did and we were pleased with the special touch they added…
Wedding Monday
May 11 2015 ·0My feet are just now starting to touch the ground after this weekend ~ It’s hard to believe that after months of planning and anticipation, Em & Nick are married!! It was an amazingly wonderful day and Emily was the most beautiful bride. Much more to come (of course!), but for now a little peek at the ceremony flowers…
A Poem & A Painting: Possible Wedding Shoe?
Apr 27 2015 ·0The next 2 weeks I will be continuing to work on a variety of design projects I am currently in the midst of, but every spare minute will be all things wedding. May 9th is coming quickly and the excitement is building!
This is a lullaby I sang to Emily when she was a baby~
A Poem & A Painting: Girl With The Flower Headpiece
Apr 06 2015 ·0This week’s painting was inspired by one of the Will Cotton photos I posted last week. Remember this?
The Wonderfully Sweet World of Will Cotton
Apr 02 2015 ·0Born in Massachusetts and raised in New Paltz, New York, artist Will Cotton is a confectionary genius, bringing his visions of candy, cakes, frosting and more to life in the most imaginative and fanciful ways.
Emily’s Colorful Custom Bridal Shower
Mar 26 2015 ·2After months of planning, this weekend it was finally time for Emily’s Bridal Shower! On Sunday, the bridesmaids, the Brother of Honor and I hosted the festive gathering. I am so excited to share the details of this lovely occasion!
Throughout the planning process, I have been so creatively energized with custom ideas to make the day extra special. I was thrilled to see these ideas come to life for the shower.
It all started with the invitation. I feel the invitation really sets the stage for the event. For Emily’s shower invitation I hand painted the design with watercolors and then added one of my favorite quotes.
