Modernizing and Customizing Furniture: A Cinderella Story
Jul 26 2017 ·0I have always been a sucker for a Cinderella story, the before and after is just such a dream.
Today I am sharing three furniture customizations in the hopes of encouraging you to take a fresh look at a piece of furniture you may have that has “good bones” but just doesn’t fit your current style. Whether the furniture is from an antique shop, a church fair, or an item you inherited, I encourage you to look beyond the current color, fabric, and/or wood finish. By changing different elements of a piece of furniture, you can modernize and customize it to create a true conversational piece for your home.
Cape Cod Golf Course Condo: The Dining Room
Jul 28 2016 ·0I’m excited to share another space in the Cape Cod Golf Course Condo that I collaborated on the interior design of with the sweetest, most wonderful client. Today I have a tour of the Dining Room which underwent quite a dramatic transformation.
Here’s where we started (sorry for the blurry picture but the worse the ‘before’ picture the better, right??):
Cape Cod Golf Course Condo: The Bedrooms
Jul 15 2016 ·0I recently completed a project with the most wonderful client. She is a single professional woman who works with facts and figures in her career. That no-nonsense mindset is softened by her kind spirit, most amazing jewelry, and willingness to add color, pattern, and exquisite custom touches in the design of her weekend getaway. She has traveled extensively in Europe (particularly Greece and Italy) and wanted to incorporate her European style and treasured artwork into this new-to-her space. I had the best time working on this Cape Cod Golf Course condo project and believe the end result is a collaboration that truly reflects my client and her personality.
Over the course of several months, we transformed nearly every inch of this previously bland, beige, and boring condo. To begin our tour, come take a peek at the bedrooms…
South Shore Media Room: A Cinderella Story
Apr 08 2015 ·0Yes, this is a before and after story where a family lives happily ever after in a dream room…
It is always exciting to commence a new project for me. During the first consultation I have a custom questionnaire that I try to follow so I know about the needs as well as the wants of the client. This simple interview includes questions such as how many are living in your home and do they have any special living requirements? Do you like pattern? Do you like stripes? What is your favorite color and is there a color you just can’t tolerate? Do you have pets? Do you entertain often? As I was going through the questionnaire with the client for this project, I discovered that she has very definite likes and dislikes she when it comes to her home.
Emily’s Colorful Custom Bridal Shower
Mar 26 2015 ·2After months of planning, this weekend it was finally time for Emily’s Bridal Shower! On Sunday, the bridesmaids, the Brother of Honor and I hosted the festive gathering. I am so excited to share the details of this lovely occasion!
Throughout the planning process, I have been so creatively energized with custom ideas to make the day extra special. I was thrilled to see these ideas come to life for the shower.
It all started with the invitation. I feel the invitation really sets the stage for the event. For Emily’s shower invitation I hand painted the design with watercolors and then added one of my favorite quotes.
BlogTour Vegas: Wood-Mode Fine Cabinetry for Every Room & Everyone
Feb 25 2015 ·1Wood-Mode, a luxury custom cabinetry manufacturer and BlogTour Vegas sponsor, had one of the most popular booths on the show floor at KBIS. When you have exquisite cabinetry in a diverse range of styles, finishes, and applications you are sure to draw a crowd. However when you add puppies…well, talk about over the top!
Designs for Top Knobs Challenge
Jan 05 2015 ·0One of my favorite parts of any Interior Design is the details ~ the small touches that add panache and personality to a space. And one of my favorite details is the hardware for cabinetry and furniture. The knobs, pulls, and other hardware are truly jewelry for the room!
You can imagine how thrilled I was to hear that not only was Top Knobs, purveyor of fine hardware for kitchens, baths and beyond, a sponsor of Modenus’ BlogTour Vegas, but they are also currently running a cabinet hardware design contest, the Top Knobs Challenge. Count me in!
Gessi Concept Lab in Milan
Apr 16 2014 ·0The moment I stepped foot into the Gessi Concept Lab in the center of the Fashion District in Milano I felt I was in for the experience of BlogTourMilan. Gessi made a purposeful choice to locate their showroom in this area of the city. Gessi has positioned itself as fashion forward and elegant ~ a perfect fit for the Fashion District!
The Gessi Concept Lab is located in a former movie theater. The Concept Lab is actually subterranean, the excavation and renovation of the space took over two years to complete. Replete with “cascades and pools and astonishing underground vertical gardens”, the Gessi Concept Lab gives the feeling of being in a secret garden of sorts.
Diary of an Interior Designer: Cape Cod Seaside Home, The Children’s Suite
May 01 2013 ·0At nearly every Designer’s Show House I’ve attended, the Children’s Room is always among the favorite spaces. Designing children’s spaces presents the opportunity to incorporate whimsical touches, plenty of color and to think like a child again ~ how grand! The Children’s Suite in the Cape Cod retreat seems to me the perfect place to start our tour…
Girls Just Wanna Paint
Jun 04 2012 ·0As many of you know, along with being an interior designer I am also an oil painter. I am constantly working to improve my skills by taking classes with local artists and painting as frequently as possible. What a thrill it was then when I was recently invited to join the women artists of Girls Just Wanna Paint.
Formed in 2009, Girls Just Wanna Paint is group of 12 artists who challenge themselves each month to incorporate a selected object or idea into a painting. The paintings are posted at the beginning of each month on the Girls Just Wanna Paint blog where we invite your comments and feedback.
The group meets during the first week of every month. We view each other’s work in person, enjoy some great food and wine, and decide what the next month’s subject will be. This is a collection of serious artists who also have a lot of fun–right up my alley!
I am delighted to be a part of this esteemed group of women. Most of the artists are professionals and teachers and all are very inspiring. Their individual spirit and soul comes through in their work. I invite you to visit the Girls Just Wanna Paint site and peruse the artists’ websites and blogs. I guarantee you will fall in love with their work as I have~
My next painting as part of the Girls Just Wanna Paint group will be up at the beginning of July. As a complement to this new venture, I am pleased to announce a new weekly feature on my blog. Each week at the end of one of the blog posts (typically Pamela’s Posh Picks) I will be sharing one of my petite Interiors oil paintings. I would love to hear your feedback on these paintings. Of course I am also open to painting custom pieces of your special Interior space in oil. These works can be framed or reproduced as beautiful stationery.
I hope you will enjoy this new feature and look forward to sharing my painting journey with you!
xo,
Pamela
