A Poem & A Painting: Beach Girl With Straw Hat
Jul 11 2016 ·1I am delighted to say that I’m spending the week with my granddaughter Daisy ~ and I’m looking forward to every moment! In the meantime, this week’s painting is again Summer themed. I do love the beach and am so fortunate to be able to look out my window and have instant inspiration…
A Poem & A Painting: Blue Bathing Beauty
Apr 19 2016 ·0Even though Spring has barely begun, I’m already dreaming of beach days. Maybe this is because I’m fortunate to have an ocean view out my window ~ or maybe just because I love Summer so much. Either way, this week’s painting is full of retro glam and ready to lounge under a striped umbrella sipping a fruity cocktail!
This week’s poem (excerpt) is from a 17th century English poet…
A Poem & A Painting: Kaleidoscope Eyes
Jan 25 2016 ·0This is the final week of my January painting challenge and as I’ve been exploring the color wheel with my paintings, this poem, Kaleidoscope Eyes, truly struck a chord with me. I hope you enjoy it as well…
30 Paintings in 30 Days: Day 11, Orange Shade
Jan 11 2016 ·0You’ve probably guessed the color for my next series of paintings ;-).
For this painting, I was inspired by a piece of artwork I saw while visiting the galleries of Provincetown on Cape Cod. Dreaming of sunny days at the beach, as always this time of year.
A Painting & A Poem: Kate At The Beach
May 18 2015 ·0In honor of my mini getaway to Florida with my sister Kate, I thought I’d repost a watercolor painting I did of her at the beach several Summers ago. We always have the best time together, but especially when we’re at the beach!
Caught My Eye, Vol. 53
May 15 2015 ·0Still in recovery mode from Em’s wedding, but here are a few of the things that Caught My Eye this week…
A Perfect, Design-Filled Maine Vacation: Goose Rocks Beach
Aug 13 2014 ·0This year my family and I took a nostalgic vacation back to Goose Rocks Beach in Maine. Goose Rocks Beach consists of 3 miles of white sand and is considered part of Kennebunkport, although it is about 5 miles outside the center of town. There is an offshore barrier reef, visible at low tide, that helps protect the beach and beautiful sand.
We traveled to Goose Rocks for many years when my children were young. We rented a cottage on the beach ~ or a block or two away depending on the financial luck of a particular year. I always described this area as like stepping into an old time novel. There was one small 2 lane road where the cars went about 20 miles an hour tops. The General Store at the end of the road sells plump blueberry muffins alongside wine and blow up rafts and the New York Times. The only activities were walking the beach, swimming, blowing bubbles and going to the “moon fly” dance at night (Emily made that up for our walks). Most of the people on the beach were families with umbrellas, coolers and children. We spent many wonderful days on that beach…

Aug 11 2014 ·2South Shore Art Center Festival of the Arts, Cohasset
Jun 18 2014 ·0There are so many traditions that happen in my area in the summer that it is almost hard to keep up with them~ but it’s a lot of fun trying. Father’s Day weekend in the quaint seaside town of Cohasset, the South Shore Art Center hosts their annual Arts Festival. “South Shore Art Center Arts Festival mixes the best of small town New England summer festivals with an uncommon attention to detail and commitment t0 presenting quality art and handmade craft” ~ an apt description to be sure.
Dekton My Deck, Please!
May 13 2014 ·0It is that time of the year again (Hallelujah!) when all of my personal design attention turns toward my deck that overlooks Nantasket Beach.
The Best Client in the World (or close to it)!
Dec 11 2013 ·1Every Interior Designer deserves to have at least one client like Gina~she makes up for all the more “demanding” ones. Oh heck, it’s time for Christmas wishes, all of our clients should be like Miss G ;-)!
When Gina & I first met years ago over a rosebush in my yard, I was NOT designer attired ~ in fact I was a disgrace to our family (as my daughter often told me) when I was in my beautiful garden. I just couldn’t wait to get into the dirt and see what magic had happened overnight. So I usually grabbed a tank top and pedal pushers (before they were in fashion as chic capris). If you were really lucky, you could catch me in my nightgown with a cup of coffee in my hands, deadheading… oh my, I digress.
Posh Pinterest Board of the Week: Not Your Ordinary Picnic
Aug 19 2013 ·0There are still a few precious weeks left of summer sunshine, plenty of time to enjoy a meal (or four!) outside. While spreading a blanket and opening a basket of food in a scenic spot certainly covers the essentials, why not add some posh panache to your picnic? With that thought in mind, this week’s Posh Pinterest board is Not Your Ordinary Picnic by friend and avid pinner, Jen Bowles.
Here are a few of my favorite pins…
South Shore Interior Designer: Oceanside Penthouse Project
Jul 30 2013 ·1I’m so excited to be able to share with you a new interior design project that I am working on. The setting is a stunning oceanside penthouse space with incredible views. My client is a gentleman whose taste is both masculine and sophisticated. He works in the hotel industry and has owned quite a few homes which has certainly influenced his sense of style. It has been a delight to collaborate with him.
While the space is gorgeous, it is not without challenges. For example, vaulted ceilings and large expanses of windows are beautiful, but how to effectively incorporate them into a posh interior design? Today I’m sharing the preview (before) photos of the space and you’ll see what I mean…

May 30 2013 ·2The heat and humidity have returned to Boston. That means beach and pool weather are here as well. While an outdoor shower is a common feature at homes in many coastal towns, the interior designer in me just has to think outside the standard issue wooden stockade enclosure box to bring you this week’s Posh Picks: Luxury Outdoor Bathing!

Diary of an Interior Designer: Cape Cod Seaside Home, The Living Room
May 28 2013 ·0The Living Room is always the center of the home and a gathering place for family. It is a place to come together for celebrations, conversation and the making of memories. In this house the Living Room is literally and figuratively in the center of the home. The prime location means the space boasts breathtaking, panoramic views of the waterfront. This Living Room is also replete with character-building architectural details ~ which means we had another great starting point for our interior design. Come on in…
Diary of an Interior Designer: Cape Cod Seaside Home, The Dining Room
May 15 2013 ·1One of the best parts of having a spacious home with room for family and friends is sharing a meal. The Dining Room at our Cape Cod home is the perfect spot with room for everyone.
While I don’t have any before pictures to share, this room started off like so many of the other spaces in this home: a blank slate with lots of windows and a great water view. Once again we selected a color palette that would echo the landscape outside: sun, sea, sky and sand ~ with bright pops of color of course!…
Diary of an Interior Designer: Cape Cod Seaside Home, The Guest Bedrooms
May 07 2013 ·1“The ornaments of your house will be the guests who frequent it”
~ Author Unknown
When we last checked in at our Cape Cod seaside home, I shared with you the transformation of the Children’s Suite. Well, this luxurious home boasts three additional guest rooms in the main house. Even though each bedroom has water views, we opted for a more sophisticated design that compliments the blue of the sky and the water with a reference to sand and seashells. Come take a peek…

Pamela's Posh Picks: Beach Totes
Feb 18 2012 ·0Our mild Massachusetts winter and the ocean view out my windows has me dreaming of summer! I’m so looking forward to sunshine, sand between my toes and long, lazy days at the beach. Of course I’ll be needing a new bag to tote all my essentials: towel, sun block, bubble gum, book, shades, lipstick, iPhone, journal of secrets heard and kept…
Here are a few of my Posh Picks for Beach Totes!
Kate Spade’s Daycation tote~ Love the name (A daycation? Yes, please!) and who can resist this bright and cheerful pink?
Bring The Sun from Juicy Couture. I think the name says it all, so bright and cheerful with a hint of sparkle!
This Resort Stripe tote by Deux Lux is pure Beach Glam!
Gotta love a bag with a graphic design featuring “sunnies” as Rachael Zoe would say~
Marc Jacobs Spectacle Painted Canvas Beach Bag from Saks
I will always love an awning stripe bag and this one by DKNY in orange is tres chic!
In just a few short months it will be time to pack up our totes and enjoy days by the beach. Which beach tote would you use??

Pamela
