A Poem & A Painting: Orange Tulips
Jan 23 2017 ·0When Monday starts off rainy and dreary with more to come, there’s nothing like a cheerful painting to brighten my spirits. Today’s painting is an “oldie but a goodie”. This image has me dreaming of Spring and sun drenched tulips…
A Poem & A Painting: Des Marionettes
Oct 03 2016 ·0It was a gray and rainy weekend in New England. Luckily we are in need of the rain and I was in need of some downtime for catching up on paperwork, painting, and getting ready for my Art Show at the Boston Design Center this Thursday(!).
This week’s painting was created for the October Girls Just Wanna Paint challenge of Stripes. Once again, I love how everyone interprets the theme ~ take a peek for yourself at this month’s entries here.
30 Paintings in 30 Days: Days 10-18
Sep 20 2016 ·0Time for an update to the #30paintingsin30days challenge that I am participating in for September. I’ve been posting each daily painting on my art account on Instagram (@pamelacopemanart). You can catch up by searching the hashtag #PCA30in30September2016. You can also check out each day’s entries for all of the artists who are participating in the challenge on Leslie Saeta’s 30 Paintings in 30 Days blog. This 2nd collage includes the paintings from Days 10-18 of this challenge…
A Poem & A Painting: I Could Kiss You…
Sep 19 2016 ·0Inspired by my granddaughter Daisy, I am introducing new subject matter line for my paintings. Children’s Paintings are a bit more whimsical and lighthearted while still featuring vibrant colors, sophistication, and my signature “Pamela Copeman Art” style. I recently completed the first painting in this series, a giraffe with a crown, as part of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge…
A Poem & A Painting: Inspired by Southern Home Magazine & Rivers Spencer
Jul 18 2016 ·0I am back after a heavenly week in Philadelphia with Daisy, Emily, and Nick. I am thrilled to say that Daisy is making great strides and what a privilege it was to witness her progress in person!
In between snuggling, feeding, walking, and kissing Daisy, I did manage to do a bit of painting. As I have mentioned before, it is near impossible to travel with oil paints. I find that my watercolor palette is perfect for travel and my watercolor “sketches” are a great base to work from later. This week’s painting was inspired by a Southern Home magazine cover featuring a living room designed by Rivers Spencer. While Tony Bennett may have left his heart in San Francisco, I certainly left mine in Philadelphia…
Top 5 Entertaining & Décor Tips from La Petite Maison Presentation
May 26 2016 ·1Recently I was part of a presentation given to the Hingham Newcomers Club at La Petite Maison in downtown Hingham. La Petite Maison owner and Francophile extraordinaire, Nanette Walsh, invited me to speak with her in her shop. The evening included not only decorating and entertaining tips, but also French wine and cheeses and a handsome French sommelier. Ooh la la! Here’s a peek at our presentation and some of our best tips for entertaining and creating a stylish and personalized home.
A Painting & A Poem: Christmas Lights
Apr 11 2016 ·0Although the calendar says Spring, this week’s painting is a throwback to Winter. Considering that we had several inches of snow just last week, I think it’s fitting. I love decorating my chandelier with silver and gold ornaments around the holidays. I can’t resist the sparkle and glam! I love the way the light reflects and brightens everything.
A Poem & A Painting: The Red Dress
Apr 04 2016 ·0This week’s painting is an oldie but a goodie. This was one of my first attempts at combining mixed media and oil paint. It turns out I must’ve done something right because this artwork was so popular it was licensed and sold as posters and giclées. I am now working on a gown series~ large format, 24″x36″ ~ and I couldn’t be more excited. If you are interested in a particular color let me know and I will be happy to paint it for you (or your client/friend/sister etc.)! In the meantime, here is this week’s fittingly titled poem…
A Poem & A Painting: Mexican Pottery
Mar 28 2016 ·0Last month I visited the beautiful country of Mexico with a friend for some much need rest and relaxation. It seems like a lifetime ago now but if I close my eyes and allow my mind to drift, I can go back to that warm, beautiful, and inspiring place. While in Tulum one of the sights I especially enjoyed was the displays of handmade pottery. Such artistry! Today’s quote reminds me not only of the artisans of Mexico, but of so much more…

Nov 27 2015 ·0I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving. Today I am excited to announce my very first giveaway! That’s right I’m giving away one of my original paintings. My assistant convinced me this would be a fun idea so I’m going for it :-).
This is the painting that is up for grabs:
Webster Art Project at Webster & Co., Boston
Nov 19 2015 ·0“You may own the best gadgets, the coolest fashions, and the swiftest cars, but the next generation’s hipper iterations have already been imagined. When all else is replaced, repaired, expired, or obsolete only your paintings will remain and will say the most about who you are and what you value. “
~Questroyal Fine Art, LLC
Last week I attended the opening reception for this year’s Webster Art Project at the Webster & Co. Showroom located at the Boston Design Center. David Webster along with Marni Kaufman Katz (freelance writer/editor of Boston magazine) curated artwork by New England artists to display in the showroom. Not only do these vignettes beautifully showcase art pieces in real room settings, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these works goes to support the Massachusetts College of Art & Design Scholarship Fund. What a genius concept!
The Art of Tuscany
Nov 11 2015 ·0Italy is an Artist’s Paradise and the Tuscany region in particular is replete with outstanding works of art, both modern and classic. Art is everywhere in this region, and when I visited in September I was on sensory overload ~ between the architecture, the views of quilt-like vineyards, and the museum art my heart was a flutter.
Come take a peek at some of the varied and beautiful art I encountered during my September trip…

A Poem & A Painting: Sparkle
Mar 23 2015 ·1The sun is shining and though it is very cold (20 degrees in March?!), the light is beautiful as it sparkles off the snow. That imagery is the basis for this week’s poem…
Caught My Eye: Gorgeous Green
Mar 20 2015 ·0For this week’s Caught My Eye feature I’m mixing it up and trying something new. I’ve picked a theme and finds that encompass five categories: Tile, Texture, Fashion, Art, and Wallpaper. It’s a bit of a hybrid between my regular Caught My Eye posts and an older blog feature, Pamela’s Posh Picks. With St. Patrick’s Day and the first day of Spring this week, Gorgeous Green is a perfect theme. Come take a peek at what Caught My Eye…
South Shore Art Center: Forever & After
Mar 19 2015 ·1Thou know’st ‘tis common; all that lives must die,
Passing through nature to eternity.
—William Shakespeare (Hamlet. 1.2.72–73)
I recently visited an amazing art show at the South Shore Art Center’s Bancroft Gallery entitled Forever & After. As the above quote selected by curator Bill Houser alludes to, the show’s themes revolve around the subjects of mortality, death, loss, mourning, monument, and commemoration.
“Sculpture has been used to commemorate and honor the dead since before the Egyptians built the pyramids, to ensure immortality for the spirits of those buried within. The essence of Forever & After is the exploration of the ubiquitous and prophetic themes of loss, commemoration, and belief in spirit with its uncertain evolution or transcendence, through the medium of contemporary sculpture.”
-Bill Houser, Curator
I adore mixed media artwork and this exhibit features pieces created with a wide variety of materials including reclaimed wood, doors, newspaper, and even a typewriter. Here’s a peek at a few of the pieces from the show…
Shades of Gray
Mar 10 2015 ·0In my continuing efforts to improve my painting skills, I am taking a Drawing Class with Judy Rossman at the South Shore Art Center. Judy is an outstanding teacher with a very academic approach that is helping me draw objects with more confidence. Instead of a painting this week, I thought I would share one of our “homework” assignments which involved drawing and shading…
Philadelphia Flower Show, Part 2
Mar 05 2015 ·0{Read about Part 1 of my visit to the Philadelphia Flower Show here}
Continuing on with our visit to the 2015 Philadelphia Flower Show, I adored this next category. The challenge was to create a piece of jewelry from organic materials (Things found in your yard? Not in my backyard!).
My friend Sarah Boynton, representing the Hingham Garden Club, made this piece…it was magnificent!
