In the last month, I have had the privilege of hearing design expert Susanna Salk speak not only at the Design Bloggers Conference in Los Angeles, but also at the Boston Design Center last week. Susanna is as well-spoken as she is beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed her latest presentation…
Ms. Salk has an impressive résumé. She helped launch Elle Décor magazine as the Interior Design Mangager, she appears regularly on the Today Show to discuss style and design for the home and she has written a plethora of books including: A Privileged Life, Celebrating Wasp Style, Weekend Retreat, and Room for Children to name a few.
Last week I was lucky enough to have her latest book, Be Your Own Decorator, signed just for me.
In this new book, Susanna highlights spaces from designers’ own homes. It is always inspiring to view the interiors of elite professionals and see their imaginations unleashed.
I adore color, as most of you know, and the vibrant hues of this room really spoke to me. Designer Alessandra Branca notes that this small sitting room was truly “brought to life by mixing toile and chinoiserie in the unexpected colors of brown and pink.” Stunning, don’t you think?
Ahhh, to be surrounded by treasures that make you smile. Stephen Shubel “designed his 17th century pied-a-terre as a neutral backdrop and perfect tiny frame for his personal treasures.” ~ and a room fit for a puppy size King!
Twin beds never looked so good~ I adore the shaped of the custom headboards and the color combinations… love everything about this design. Melissa Rufty, so well done!
Susanna Salk shared this quote during her presentation in both L.A. and Boston and I think it says it all. Your eye is a muscle train it!. I believe that through my painting I have learned to see color more clearly and more deeply. The world holds so much inspiration for us all we have to do is SEE IT!

Pamela
