I’d hoped to have a new painting ready to post today, but sometimes life gets in the way. Instead I am reposting a painting from last Summer ~ because really, nothing says Summer in New England like a Lobster Dinner!
I found this charming haiku that I think is just perfect for this week’s painting…

This post was originally published last Summer, but I thought this was a perfect time to revisit! New A Poem & A Painting coming tomorrow…xo
The Summer season can be short here in New England, as such I make a point to do as much al fresco entertaining as possible. Whether a dinner party or dance soiree (or both!), I make the most of my 650 square foot ocean view deck. Of course any outdoor space can be transformed into an entertaining oasis ~ take it from me.
Culled from over 20 years of Interior Design experience and even longer as a party hostess, here are my Top Five Tips for Decorating Your Deck (or patio, or terrace…) for Posh Summer Entertaining!

A Perfect, Design-Filled Maine Vacation: Goose Rocks Beach
Aug 13 2014 · 0 comments · Inspiration, Personal, Travel ·0
This year my family and I took a nostalgic vacation back to Goose Rocks Beach in Maine. Goose Rocks Beach consists of 3 miles of white sand and is considered part of Kennebunkport, although it is about 5 miles outside the center of town. There is an offshore barrier reef, visible at low tide, that helps protect the beach and beautiful sand.
We traveled to Goose Rocks for many years when my children were young. We rented a cottage on the beach ~ or a block or two away depending on the financial luck of a particular year. I always described this area as like stepping into an old time novel. There was one small 2 lane road where the cars went about 20 miles an hour tops. The General Store at the end of the road sells plump blueberry muffins alongside wine and blow up rafts and the New York Times. The only activities were walking the beach, swimming, blowing bubbles and going to the “moon fly” dance at night (Emily made that up for our walks). Most of the people on the beach were families with umbrellas, coolers and children. We spent many wonderful days on that beach…

A Poem & A Painting: Rose Tree
Aug 04 2014 · 1 comment · A Poem & A Painting, My Paintings ·0
This month’s Girls Just Wanna Paint challenge was Tree. It had me stumped for a while (hehe), but as I was perusing my inspiration file I came across a photo of a girl with a floral crown. I loved the ‘Rose Tree’ upon her head and I was off and painting. I love this poem and I think it the perfect complement for my lovely fashionista with a rose crown. What do you think?…

It’s hard to believe a year has gone by since the Brizo Blogger 19 Reunion trip to Memphis. I still look back fondly on that trip, and all the wonderful events I’ve been fortunate to be a part of since being selected into my Blogger 19 group. I am truly honored to be associated with a company like Brizo, who not only creates exquisitely functional products, but gives back to the community in such meaningful and special ways.
Take a peek at my post from last year and our amazing visit to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a day I will never forget…

I just returned from the BEST vacation with my family! Re-entry back into the “real world” is hard, but I am feeling so blessed and thankful for our time together at Goose Rocks Beach in Maine. Today’s painting is fresh off the easel, painted this morning, and the poem is one I’ve always loved.
Feeling appreciative for Summer, family, and life…
