Pike Place Market

My quick trip to Seattle in July was filled with so much amazing sightseeing, including the incredible Chihuly Garden & Glass exhibit. Perhaps my 2nd favorite spot we visited was Pike Place Market. Known as “Seattle’s epicenter of fresh produce, specialty foods and independent businesses”, Pike Place is the 33rd most visited attraction in the world!
Pike Place Market is one of the oldest continuously operated markets in the country. With a divine location right on the Elliott Bay waterfront, the Public Market opened in 1907 with the mission to have the “consumer meet the producer”.
The Public Market consists of several levels filled with small farmers, artisans, fisherman and merchants. I do believe you can find just about everything you could ever need!
Come take a peek at the offerings that caught my eye at Pike Place Market~
The flowers were the first things I saw and I was overwhelmed with the variety, the textures, and the $5 price!
Just look at this palette. Swoon…
When I see sunflowers I always think of my daughter’s high school alma mater, Notre Dame Academy in Hingham. Sunflowers were their signature fleur.
A glance behind the scenes
The market offers specialty flowers. Love these sweet peas in pinks, my favorite color.
Love these coral sweet peas just as much…
On the main floor the fruit is abundant and beautiful.
Love the velvet texture of these peaches~
There was pasta in so many colors and shapes.
Yummy!
Did I mention the fresh seafood?
Look at these bluefish, I think I may try to paint this…
Should I call this one Big Mouth?
So much variety!
Outside there was a small band, of course we had to stop and take a listen.
Thank you Fred, for inviting me to tour Seattle with you ~ what a summer treat!

Pamela
