Pamela’s Posh Picks: Out-of-the-Box Buffets

Thanksgiving and the holiday entertaining season is fast approaching. If you are hosting a gathering in your home this year, chances are you’ll need a place to serve refreshments from. Whether it’s drinks and appetizers or a Thanksgiving feast, I’ve rounded up several creative options for Buffets. Come take a peek…
Bookcase as Buffet:
If you have bookshelves in your dining room, as in this one designed by Christina Murphy, take advantage of their perfect proximity to the table during holiday entertaining. Simply temporarily relocate books and other items from a few of the main shelves (store them under your bed ~ I’ll never tell!) and voila, a spot to serve!
Etagere as Buffet:
I love the unexpected shape, versatility and portability of the Lyon Round Etagere from Ballard Designs. This piece would work wonderfully as a dessert buffet, particularly in a small space. Filled with petite treats and clementines for a holiday gathering (and perhaps placed in a bathroom to serve as a towel butler when the season is over), this etagere is a chic and compact workhorse.
Contemporary Buffet:
This sleek Manning Buffet from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams pairs contemporary lines and modern materials. It features loads of storage on the inside, and plenty of serving space on the outside.
Console as Buffet:
The Dresden Four-Door Mirrored Console from Horchow is elegant, glam and functional. This piece can be used as a buffet server during the holidays, and then moved to a foyer or living room during other times of the year. The shimmery finish is sure to add a touch of elegance to any space.
Built-in as Buffet:
Finally, a built-in, this one is by Farinelli Construction. While the main function of this built-in is storage, why not take advantage of the display shelf during an abundant holiday meal. This space is a great spot to place serving dishes during the meal, thus freeing up precious table space for all those extra place settings!
Take a few minutes to look around your home and see if there is a piece of furniture you already have that could be used as a buffet during the holidays. If you do make a new purchase, use your imagination to see if it might be able to serve another purpose after the season is over. You may just surprise yourself with your creative inspiration!
Speaking of creativity, we’re just a little over a week away from the opening of the Girls Just Wanna Paint gallery show at Thayer Academy! This show has been months in the making and I’m so excited to see it all come together. I’ve been doing some larger scale paintings for the show ~ a fun new challenge to be sure. This painting is 16″ x 20″!
The show runs November 18th to December 18th at the Thayer Academy Art Gallery in Braintree. The opening reception is Thursday, November 21st from 5-8pm. I’d love to see some of my local friends there!
xo,
Pamela
