Moonlight & Miracles Gala

The October issue of South Shore Living Magazine highlights a group of artists of which I am proud to be a part of. Under the leadership of Jen Kelly, for many years we have donated paintings to the fundraising auction that is part of South Shore Hospital’s Moonlight and Miracles Gala. The funds raised benefit cancer care programs at the hospital, a wonderful and worthy cause.

When Jen was asked by her friend, Denise Teixeira if she would contribute a piece of her artwork to the Moonlight and Miracles Gala, she did not hesitate ~ she even enlisted the talents of several of her artist friends. Most of this core group of 6 have been painting together for over 15 years!

I am a relative newcomer to the group and I find that my work is elevated by the other artists in the group. My heart is full when I am in their presence because they are all masters and so full of talent and pure spirit. Along with Jen, the group includes Diane Scott, Bonnie Hobbs, Dianne Panerelli Miller, and Franny Andahazy. These women are rock STARS!

We usually paint a seaside scene or landscape that is very appealing to the audience at the Gala.

We each have our own style and Jen encourages us to remain true to that. As you can see from my donation this year, it is not a landscape. I have always contributed a mixed media gown painting. I have explored the world of interiors this year and combined the two subjects in this composition. I am so pleased with this piece…I sure hope someone at the Moonlight and Miracles Gala is too!

Most of these women are professional artists and offer painting lessons as well. I have been a student of Diane P. Miller, Franny Andahazy, Jen Kelly and Diane Scott. Each woman has taught me the academics of painting as well as the art of painting with emotion.

I am so honored and humbled to be in this group of outstanding artists and truly generous women~ thank you!
