Girls Just Want To Paint Art Show at Thayer Academy

Our BIG art showing opening was November 21 at Thayer Academy in Braintree. This art show was a labor of love and took a year of preparation! Not only were we painting but also reserving the space, planning the marketing materials and then working together to make it happen ~ yes, 12 women!
Here are some of the photos of the “hanging” (of the artwork, of course!), before pictures of the gallery as well as some of the event photos. The exhibit is open to the public through December 18, 8am- 3pm Mon.-Fri. The gallery is located in the Southworth Library Building at Thayer Academy, please stop by to see over 120 works of art that are for sale and make perfect for Holiday gifts!
The “undressed” Gallery, a bit daunting before we started hanging the paintings
Tori Brega arranging our monthly Challenge paintings on the floor before we hung them on the wall (this is the exact way to install photographs or paintings in your own home).
Lisa Kennedy not only paints but also helped us hang the show by arranging the larger pieces for us.
These pears are part of my 3 larger works in the show. Yes, I can do still life with serious elements ~ I usually just choose not to…
I love these shoes, don’t you?
This mixed media gown painting of mine was the favorite of some Thayer athletes who stopped by. I was so flattered…
This is a group photo of The Girls Just Wanna Paint (minus our Paula and Lisa), aren’t we a good looking bunch?
And our handsome bartender Tim MacDonald, everyone’s favorite:
Kelley, Franny Andahazy (a former member) and Sally
My dearest friends who traveled quite a way to see the show (xoxox): Gina, Connie and Tina
The crowd at one time… at least 100 people!
The curator of the museum is in the center, Karen Koskores. She was so easy to work with and so supportive…
Friends from my art class and our famous teacher Diane Panerelli Miller. She brought me fleurs, so sweet…xoxo
My extra special fan club who support in every way…Emily and Kate xoxox
This is only my second Art Show and it has been an outstanding and magical experience with this very talented group of artists. I can hardly wait for our next one!
“A painting is above all a product of the artist’s imagination; it must never be a copy.”
