Diary of an Interior Designer: Cape Cod Seaside Home, Master Bedroom Suite

The Master Bedroom Suite, or Owner’s Retreat, is an increasingly popular space to lavish fabulous design on. To that point, Master Bedrooms are always among the most popular spaces in a Show House and clients are eager to have an interior designer work their magic in this space. The owners of this home were no exception.
This international couple wanted a soothing area away from the rest of the bedrooms. Well located on the first floor, just steps to the pool and with an inspiring ocean view, we had an ideal space to work with…
This is view looking out to the wall of windows that overlook the ocean:
This is our “working board” for the Master Bedroom Suite:
I created a board for each room and these boards became my team’s bible. Showcasing the color palette, this is where I pinned the fabric memos, trims and furniture which provided a road map and quick reference for all of the different rooms in the home. For the Master Bedroom we chose soft hues that are appeal to both the male and female occupants of the room. The tranquil teal grey and taupe are harmonious with each other and the view beyond.
We treated the windows with black out woven wood roman shades and silk drapes. This glorious glam chaise is just right for the lady of the house to take a quiet break between hostessing and entertaining.
This is the view of the bed, inviting don’t you think?
Here are the before shots of the Master Bath, this space is very luxurious with a private “loo” room:
Here is the space with my design implemented:
We carried the amazing, sculptural carpet through from the bedroom. I love how we combined traditional touches such as the monogrammed towels and crystal cabinet knobs with the uber-glam mod chandelier!
No space is too small for a chandelier!
I hope you are continuing to enjoy this series, just a few more spaces to go! Check back tomorrow for a peek at the Dining Room…
