Designs for Top Knobs Challenge

One of my favorite parts of any Interior Design is the details ~ the small touches that add panache and personality to a space. And one of my favorite details is the hardware for cabinetry and furniture. The knobs, pulls, and other hardware are truly jewelry for the room!
You can imagine how thrilled I was to hear that not only was Top Knobs, purveyor of fine hardware for kitchens, baths and beyond, a sponsor of Modenus’ BlogTour Vegas, but they are also currently running a cabinet hardware design contest, the Top Knobs Challenge. Count me in!
I worked over this past weekend to sketch and refine my designs. Typically I enjoy working in my studio with my oil paints on the weekend, but this weekend I created a little differently. I worked with graph paper and a ruler ~ the ideas were easy, but to draw them to scale was the hard part for me because I far prefer to sketch. I may have developed somewhat of a headache from staring at blue lines all day, but I am pleased with my designs and would love to know what you think…
The first pair is a Bow and Arrow, inspired by Katniss Everdeen of The Hunger Games fame.
These would be perfect in Top Knobs Brushed Satin Nickel finish. Perhaps one side of the arrow and bottom feather could even be satin and the other have more of a sheen? The design would look great with some etching for detail…
The next design will come as no surprise to those of you who know me. With the name of my studio being Empty Nest, of course it was only natural for me to design a Nest and a Feather set!
These would shine the the Top Knobs Artisan Grade Bronze finish. I adore this pair for a Kitchen, using the feather to pull open the larger cabinet doors and the nest installed on smaller drawers.
I couldn’t resist a bit of sketching…
I loved participating in this contest and can’t wait to see what TopKnobs has in store for BlogTour Vegas. The winner of the #TopKnobsChallenge will win $1,000 and have their design produced! Wish me luck!
