Designhounds KBIS 2019 Report: Wellborn & MrSteam

In this report from the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, I will be highlighting two more of our generous Designhounds 2019 sponsors, Wellborn Cabinet and Mr. Steam. I learned something new about both these repeat sponsors and was so impressed with their latest offerings!
Wellborn Cabinet
The Wellborn exhibit was so outstanding at KBIS, they even won an award for such an extensive and beautiful display! I was so lucky to be able to see it in person 🙂 .
Wellborn is a 55 year old family owned company located in Ashland, Alabama. Their product lines have expanded from Kitchen Cabinetry to storage solutions for all members of your family (including pets) and areas of your home.
I particularly loved how they have integrated “movable parts” for creative storage solutions. This provides a sleeker counter top as well as more work space. This shelf rises up from the cabinet at the touch of a button.
How about this for a great use of the dead space under a staircase?
The display for pet care was a popular exhibit, as you might imagine. I do love the petite shower and I could see this being used for little ones coming in from the beach.
Nearly 70% of Wellborn cabinets feature painted finishes. You can choose any color from the extensive library of Benjamin Color and Sherwin Williams paints, isn’t that terrific? I adore the possibilities, for example the lower cabinets could be one shade and the upper cabinets the same color but a different value and the island another color completely!
I am always interested in what materials are used for cabinet doors in a Kitchen or a Bathroom, spaces where there is a lot of wear and tear on the cabinetry. Wellborn offers doors made of hardwood with a variety of grains and textures that are a perfect base for a stain.
They offer MDF (medium density fibreboard) for painted finishes. This is not only strong and durable but provides a smooth surface for painted finishes.
Did I mention the extensive selection of specialty storage options they have for their cabinets?
As much as I dream about a new Kitchen or Bath, I really, really would love a Mistress Closet meant for Indulgence… I mean, just look at this Shoe Tower
This Sunglasses Drawer, featuring gem stone drawer pulls on the display at KBIS, are fit for a Kardashian!
After visiting the Wellborn website, (I encourage you to take a peek), I am head over heels in love with the You Draw It program.
If you have a vision of what you would like your cabinets to be, you can have it! For example, the door designs could have a trellis or diamond pattern. I am thinking if I win the lottery I would create a crown motif 😉 .
Wellborn offers so many beautiful options for Kitchens, Baths, Closets, and now Pet Care Centers, that “the sky is the limit” in designing and taking care of all your home cabinetry, storage and organization needs.
Mr. Steam
I have been spoiled! Yes it is true, I have had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Steam (aka Martha Orellana) quite a few times now and each time I learn more and more about this awesome company.
This year at KBIS I learned about the history of MrSteam, which I found so interesting. They have been in the Steam business for nearly 100 years(!) Founder Arthur Sussman designed the world’s first electric steam iron in 1917! Can you imagine what this meant for workers in garment factories? They also have produced electric steam boilers that are used in hospitals, on Naval ships and at the Kennedy Space Center. No wonder they have created the most steam showers!
Take a peek at this amazing bathroom transformation~
Isn’t that amazing?!
Tenets of the MrSteam company philosophy include: improving lives around the world through wellness, improve ourselves through innovation, work hard, do the right thing, even when it’s not the easy thing – ethics matter, put relationships above all, and be green by choosing the cleanest manufacturing processes around. I would love to make this my personal philosophy ~do you think they would mind?
The face of MrSteam, Mrs. Steam embodies all aspects of the company mission. She is so enthusiastic when she is teaching us about steam, her whole body smiles.
Her knowledge is extensive and she is a master at taking the most technical of matters (such as installation, parts etc.) and explaining it in simple terms that we (designers) can all understand. When we entered the room for our breakfast meeting at KBIS, she greeted each one of us at the door. There was a bit of a wait because she shook hands or hugged us and mentioned something personal to each of us. She makes you feel like you are the best thing in the whole world. MrSteam could not have a better ambassador!
This year, Mrs. Steam introduced us to the brand new technology that can turn on your steam shower from your bed so that it is ready in 10 minutes. MrSteam offers swipe-touch controls, ultra-efficient steam generators, soothing aromatherapy, and chromatherapy systems as well as towel warmers. You can have a luxury spa right in your home, with controls at your fingertips!
Of course Mrs. Steam always reminds us of the health benefits of Steam Therapy including:
- Respiratory health: improves breathing, hot mist helps loosen bronchial secretions
- Skin Care: cleanses skin, lubricates and hydrates the skin, leaves skin glowing
- Holistic Health: removes toxins from the body, may relieve pain and arthritis discomfort
- Well-Being: relieves stress, promotes restful sleep, fosters a feeling of peace and calm
- Physical Wellness: increases blood circulation, boosts metabolism
Additionally, MrSteam uses less that 2 gallons of water for a ½ steam, and it can be added to an existing shower.
If you are considering a steam shower you must take a peek at their website, there is a virtual sizing that can help you design your own steam shower with all of the accessories!
Thank you Mrs. Steam for an informative seminar and a bit of fun with your Wheel of Steam with prizes…
With steam therapy from MrSteam, everyone is a winner!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this KBIS recap featuring and Wellborn Cabinet and MrSteam! Both of these companies featured products I would love to have in my own home!
