Chandeliers of Venice & Milan

If you know me or if you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you know I have a Chandelier fetish (oh, and also a shoe fetish, but that’s a different post!) I simply adore chandeliers of all shapes and sizes. In my own home, I have pendant fixtures in closets and hallways, a crystal chandelier over my dining table and a chandelier on my deck. Wait, doesn’t everyone?? In my humble opinion, everyone should!
Perhaps I love chandeliers because they are romantic, perhaps I love them because I delivered morning newspapers when I was young and I was afraid of the dark, or perhaps I love them simply because they are works of art and I am entranced by the way they sparkle and create patterns on the ceiling. While I was in Venice and Milan with BlogTour, I saw many wonderful chandeliers. Here are some beauties, old and new, that I want to share with you…
“Ring the bells that still can ring,
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything,
That’s how the light gets in”
~Leonard Cohen
Even the Gelato store had a breathtaking chandelier
Love this contemporary chandelier spotted at the Dekton by Cosentino Showroom at the Salone del Mobile
The fiber optic strands reminded me of ‘cracks of light’ on this fanciful fixture
Aren’t these fairies the sweetest things you’ve ever seen?
“She is bendable light: she shone every corner of my day”
~Jerry Spinelli Stargirl
I adore modern creativity, this light was in a very jazzy boutique
This serpentine fixture was featured at the Ventura Lambrate, an avant garde design exhibition area in Milan. It can be altered to a variety of different lengths, which I thought was so cool.
Love Pink!
“Before you…my life was like a moonless night.
Very dark, but there were stars, points of light and reason…And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty.”
~from the Twilight series
I find these chandeliers to be so romantic…
Both of these glass beauties were seen in the private home of a Countess which we were so fortunate to tour
A bevy of flowery beauties
“It’s the kind of kiss that inspires stars to climb into the sky and light up the world”
~Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me
Seen at Eurocucina, if you look closely you may be able to see the diamond rimmed cups…
Can one ever really be over the top with crystal? Not me~
Baccarat is one of the best, the signature pink crystal is a hint to its identity
“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.”
-J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Light up your kitchen with greenery and light
Bent wood, modern and chic
This sconce reminded me of Harry Potter ~ or perhaps The Night Circus with the silhouettes in the flags…
Finally, these lights may not be a chandeliers, but they are antique Fornasettii (faces) lamps ~ so unique and interesting…
I hope you’ve enjoyed my “Chandelier Tour” of BlogTour Milan and Venice. I’m already dreaming of where I can install my next chandelier!

Pamela
