Valentines from the Heart
Feb 08 2013 ·0I have such fond childhood memories of Valentine’s Day. When I was a little girl, my sisters and I would always make handmade Valentines. Our mother explained that handmade were most special because you created them.
Posh Pinterest Board of the Week: Be My Valentine
Feb 07 2013 ·0With Valentine’s Day just a week away, today I’m highlighting my Be My Valentine Pinterest board. On this board I’ve pinned plenty of ideas for cards, gifts and decor for Valentine’s Day.
Thoughts of Love
Feb 04 2013 ·0As Valentine’s Day approaches, our thoughts naturally turn to love. Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays as I cherish the opportunity to let those closest to me know how I feel. This quote is a pretty good indication…
Pamela’s Posh Picks: Holiday Photo Cards
Dec 07 2012 ·0This is one of my favorite times of the year to go to my mailbox. Along with the usual crush of junk mail and catalogs, December is when the holiday cards arrive! While it seems fewer and fewer people send out paper cards, I for one love receiving them. It’s especially exciting to open up a holiday card and be greeted with the smiling faces of family and friends. I just love to see how families are growing and changing!
Even though my own children are now in their 20s, I still enjoy sending a holiday greeting card with a photo. I haven’t yet decided on a design for this year, but it sure if fun looking ~ that’s why this week’s Posh Picks feature Holiday Photo Cards…
‘Tis the Season: Christmas in NYC
Dec 05 2012 ·1Last weekend I traveled with a dear friend to the “city that never sleeps”. If you’ve never been to New York during the Christmas season, you simply must go! Even more than usual, the city is stunning, vibrant and full of light. I had a ball taking in the energy of Manhattan and the sights of the season.

The 4th of July: Time to Celebrate…and Decorate!
Jul 03 2012 ·0Happy July 4th! Time to take a break from our routines and celebrate our country and enjoy the summer sunshine. Time to take out the patriotic plates, red, white and blue buntings and American flags. Time to gather with family and friends.
Here are a few ideas to help you jazz up your home and terraces for your 4th of July celebration~
Set the table with stars and stripes.
Go ahead and mix in some seasonal paper goods. There are so many great patterns to choose from and paper plates help make clean-up a breeze.
Don’t forget to add decorations in unexpected places. Even the sculpture in my Foyer “dresses” for the 4th of July!
One of the best parts about a summer holiday is enjoying your outdoor spaces. This time of year my deck is in full bloom ~ and the perfect spot to watch fireworks from afar. I love to accent the fleurs with a small flag…
and a well-placed tiara or two! Isn’t she beautiful?
Don’t forget about crowns for you and your guests as well.
I use my collection year after year, adding to my stockpile when a festive headpieces catches my eye.
Patriotic tiaras make for great photo ops!
At my home, the main event on the 4th is always the fireworks display from Boston decorating the night sky…
The most perfect spot to view fireworks has to be with a reflection on the water, how lovely!
As you can see I must perfect my ability to photograph at night~but believe me, it is stunning!
After a night of patriotic revelry, I always love knowing a fun time was had by all…
Oh beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountains majesties Above the fruited plain.
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea.
As much as I enjoy this fun and festive summer celebration, l do hope you’ll join me in remembering the heroes who help make our freedom possible. I’ll be raising a glass to my dad Marston who served in WW II, 8th Armored Division. Thank you for your service!
Wishing you a happy and safe 4th of July!
xo,
Pamela

Treasure Mothers Everywhere
May 13 2012 ·0Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom, pictured here with 2 of her 5 daughters, Maura in her lap and me standing:
Cheers to my Emily and Pally for making me a very happy Mother today and always…
I’m sending hugs to all who nurture and care for children in good times and in hard times. So many of my friends and family inspire me, raise me up and serve as role models everyday ~ Happy Mothers Day!
If you bungle raising your children, I don’t think whatever else you do well matters very much.

Pamela's Posh Picks: Kate Spade Dinnerware
Mar 29 2012 ·0With the Easter holiday and traditional Easter dinner “hopping” closer, I’ve been thinking about beautiful tableware once again. I love to create festive, elegant table settings and this week’s Posh Picks from Kate Spade’s Home Decor line will help you do just that…
Don’t you love this painterly black & white pattern? Placed on a bright linen tablecloth, this china adds a dash of whimsical sophistication to your holiday table:
This simple bow pattern is more traditional. It reminds me of the sweet bows my Emily used to wear in her hair, especially with her Easter dress.
Of course if you’d like a more contemporary look you could pair the Grace Avenue china with this bright yellow accent plate:
Wickford Sea Cliffs Stripe Accent Plate
This yellow pattern just smiles ~ I think this is the perfect plate for a Santa Rosa Salad, full of greenery and orange peppers (my friend Amy’s delicious recipe).
Let’s continue the creativity by using the yellow stripe plate yet again with my next pick…
Larabee Road black accent plate:
Layering different patterns and mixing and matching your plates, glassware and table dressing helps to create interest and drama, setting the “stage” for a lovely gathering.
Finally, as the children hop down the bunny trail in search of bounty for their Easter baskets, you can serve dessert and coffee. Presented in these wonderful artisan cups, you can ensure your meal will come to a memorable conclusion.
Illustrated Step Brightly Cup & Saucer Set:
I encourage you to have a colorful and creative time dressing your Easter table this year!

Be My Valentine{s}
Feb 14 2012 ·0“Oh, if it be to choose and call then mine, love, thou art every day my Valentine!”
~Thomas Hood
Valentine’s Day has long been my favorite holiday of the year. There is something so charming and sentimental about a day set aside to celebrate love, don’t you think? I love the symbols and connotations of Valentine’s Day: cupid, pink doilies, red hearts and, who could forget, romance.
Of course Valentine’s Day isn’t just for lovers. It’s a wonderful day to celebrate all the people in your life you love and hold dear. Whether children, friends or family, what a perfect time to share how much someone means to you.
Perhaps not surprisingly, handmade Valentines are one of my most treasured Valentine traditions. I love making them and I love receiving them. I save them all and each year take out some of my most cherished Valentines to display with love every February. Today I’m going to share them with you!
A sweet bird from a sweet friend~We always exchange Valentines, and I always look forward to it!
Love is in the air!
This is from my Freddy when he was into paper airplanes.
Vintage collage Valentine from G
This Valentine from my friend Danielle makes me feel so special, what a wonderful way to kick off the season!
Handmade Valentines are a family tradition, I love this one with a quote from Em.When one heart is just not enough…
Inspired by similar handmade Valentines on this year’s Paper Source catalog, I made this guitar card for Freddy.
Love Rocks!
Watercolor martini painted by me, cheers to you Valentine!
Do you recognize this winged girl? 😉
If your own words fail you, a quote will do wonderfully!
I’m so happy I saved Valentines made by little hands. They bring me back to days at the kitchen table strewn with glitter and glue, making Valentines for each other. These Valentines are so sweet and never fail to touch my heart.
So doll up in pink and red today, don a bright and shiny red lipstick, and go ahead and kiss someone on the lips! It’s time to fall “head over heels” in love with the day set aside to celebrate friendship, love, and happiness!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
xoxo,
Pamela

Love Locks
Feb 11 2012 ·0“You hold the key to my heart”
As Valentine’s Day approaches, our thoughts turn to love and romance. What city is more synonymous with love and romance than Paris? I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share a few pictures of one of the most romantic things I saw during my trip to Paris last fall: the Love Locks.
The Love Locks showcase a tradition that couples partake in to show their love. A couple writes their names on a padlock and locks it onto one of two bridges, Pont des Arts and Pont de l’Archevêché in Paris. They then throw the key into the Seine River as a symbol of their undying love.
A French tour guide explained that you must be selective when placing your lock, for each bridge has a different symbolism. The Pont des Arts is for your committed love and the Pont de l’Archevêché is for your lover.
Can you guess which bridge is completely covered with locks??

The Gift of a Gift
Dec 19 2011 ·0Anyone who knows me knows that I love to wrap gifts. It gives me great pleasure to embrace my presents with papers and ribbons that tease the recipient with anticipation of what might be inside. To me, the gift wrapping is a further expression of my creativity and as much a part of the present as the gift inside.
As always, my gifts are wrapped in colors that compliment my room designs. This year the color scheme is orange and poppy. I’ve chosen double satin ribbons and adorned them with a myriad of sparkly embellishments. They look so beautiful under the Christmas tree just waiting to make someone happy~
This is an overview of the gift wrap materials I use. Ribbons sourced from Jacobson Floral.
Papers and embellishments from Michaels and The Container Store, aren’t they fun?
Ahhh, now to use everything creatively.
Don’t forget the jingle bells for the children. Come to think of it, aren’t we all young at heart at Christmas time? Bells for everyone~
Ornaments make perfect present toppers, especially if they’re ½ price!
Of course, the more design elements that reflect light the better. Nothing beats that festive holiday sparkle!
I love GLITTER wrapping paper! If I don’t have a bit of glitter on me from December 1st to the 25th, I just don’t think I’m fully enjoying the season~
A few ideas for gift tags…
You can hand paint (or make) your gift tags and copy them~ have fun and personalize your gifts.
You can also use photos as gift tags, similar to the place card idea I shared a couple of weeks ago.
Voila here are the gifts under my tree~ isn’t it a beautiful sight? I’m so happy I can enjoy this for a few days before these gifts are given away to make even more people happy!
For more truly outstanding gift wrap ideas visit A Gift Wrapped Life, one my favorite blogs.
“ The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree is the presence of happy family and friends
all wrapped up in each other.”
~ B Hillis
Merry Christmas!

Pamela
