Oct 24 2018 ·0Once again, the Heading Home to Dinner event at Boston Design Week was a huge success. In just the 2nd year, we raised $111,000! These funds will pay a year’s rent for four families ~ yippee! This was also my 2nd year designing for the event and I cannot wait for next year. In the meantime, take a peek at some of the amazing tabletop and bar cart designs from this year’s event and a few ideas I spotted that you can easily incorporate into your own holiday tablescape…
A Few Favorites from the Heading Home To Dinner Tablescapes
Nov 15 2017 ·0It’s hard to believe it’s already been a month since the inaugural Heading Home to Dinner Event at the Boston Design Center. The fundraising goal for the first year of HH2D was $25,000. After a hugely successful three days of events, I am happy to report that $100,000 was raised for Heading Home, an organization dedicated to ending family homelessness in Greater Boston. I am so proud to have been part of this event and blown away by the generosity of the community! I can’t wait to see what year 2 will look like!
Heading Home To Dinner not only raised awareness and funds but also served to unify the Boston design community and give us a forum to meet and collaborate with other designers. What a wonderful opportunity and experience it was. All of the table designs and bar carts were incredible, representing hours of planning and set-up. While there are plenty of recaps of the entire event (my friend Linda Holt has a great one here), I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite tables from the event…

BlogTour KBIS: The Luxury of DXV
Jan 27 2017 ·2As American Standard entered its fifteenth decade of business, they proudly launched their DXV by American Standard line. DXV fixtures and fittings for Bath and Kitchen are “inspired by historically significant designs, reinterpreting them in light of today’s aesthetic and performance demands”.
For the past few years, DXV has selected a small number of outstanding designers to serve on their Design Panel. Each year the designers are given a theme to design a vignette around with the finished product showcased at the KBIS show. In this year’s vignettes, designers paid homage to four iconic cities, marrying timeless products from DXV with equally stunning design choices and accessories.

Junior League Show House 2016: The Nathaniel Allen House
Jun 16 2016 ·0This Spring the Junior League of Boston celebrated the 45th Anniversary Show House in at the Nathaniel Allen House in Newton.
Years ago I participated in the Arlington Show House in Boston and created the “Make Way for Ducklings Nursery”. Participating in a show house project is a perfect way for seasoned and new designers to gain attention and recognition for their designs. Each show house is an event and typically there are several parties, media days, and press as well as opportunities to mix and mingle with fellow designers and landscape artists.
I have attended the last couple of Show Houses as a guest and went again this year with my dear friend Paul..and we both agreed, things have changed.
This is the house as I entered…

High Point Market Fall 2015: Trends and Favorites From Afar
Oct 22 2015 ·0One of the biggest events of the Design Year took place over this past week, the Fall Market at High Point in North Carolina. What is High Point Market? It is “the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world, bringing more than 75,000 people to High Point every six months. Serious retail home furnishings buyers can be found in High Point twice a year because if you can’t find it in High Point…it probably doesn’t exist.”{source}. While I have never attended a High Point Market in person, I can assure you that a visit is on my “Design Bucket List” and is actually in the works for the next Market in April! While I was unable to attend this edition of High Point, lucky for me (and you), many of my design friends and colleagues were there and documented their finds on social media. I thought it would be fun to share some of my picks for Trends and Faves from High Point ~ even if I was 900 miles away. Come take a peek…
Boston Design Market 2015 at the Boston Design Center
Oct 16 2015 ·0Last week featured the annual Boston Design Market (aka Design Days) at the Boston Design Center. One of my goals is to be current for my clients so we can create cutting edge spaces.
Wayfair’s Heart Home Conference in Boston
Oct 15 2015 ·0The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of seminars, panel discussions, design trend projections and meeting elite designers as well as connecting with dear colleagues and friends. It just get any better than that for a creative person like me ~ so energizing and affirming! I am thrilled to be able to share with you some of the latest design and social media trends and insights that I gleaned from attending these events.
The first event I attended was the inaugural Heart Home conference in Boston. Presented by Wayfair (a zillion things home across all styles and budgets ~ sound familiar?), this event was Wayfair‘s answer to the blogging conferences held across the country and was meant to attract “everyone who shares a love of all things home—from bloggers to designers and other lifestyle entrepreneurs”.
Bunny Williams, Furnishing the Garden in Boston
May 06 2015 ·0Last week we were lucky enough to have elite designer Bunny Williams visit the Boston Design Center. During a beautiful presentation, Ms. Williams presented her new Furnishings for the Garden from Century Furniture.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Williams before and her gracious, warm, and elegant qualities are inspiring. Her manner of speaking is a bit ‘Southern’ with a slower cadence than us New Englanders ~ but when Bunny Williams speaks, we all listen.
Ms. Williams is well known for her beautiful interior designs that combine traditional style, restraint, and balance as well as a patina from one-of-a-kind antiques. She has published several books including her latest, an updated version of On Garden Style.

Weir River Farm to Table Benefit
Sep 17 2014 ·0I recently attended the 3rd Annual Farm to Table Dinner at the Weir Farm in Hingham. The event, hosted by the Trustees of the Reservation as a fundraiser, has sold out quickly each year since it began. The amazing food and beautiful nature-inspired event design make this dinner an outstanding affair.
The Farm to Table Dinner takes place in the upper pasture at Weir River Farm. The dinner is described as an “open air feast {that} is a true celebration of the farm, land preservation, local chefs, a late summer’s bounty, and the food artisans who cultivate it.”

Revisiting the Brizo Blogger 19 Reunion Trip to St. Jude Hospital
Jul 22 2014 ·0It’s hard to believe a year has gone by since the Brizo Blogger 19 Reunion trip to Memphis. I still look back fondly on that trip, and all the wonderful events I’ve been fortunate to be a part of since being selected into my Blogger 19 group. I am truly honored to be associated with a company like Brizo, who not only creates exquisitely functional products, but gives back to the community in such meaningful and special ways.
