BlogTour Vegas: Poggenpohl & the Art of Performance

Today I’d like to talk about Poggenpohl, one of our BlogTour Vegas sponsors. Poggenpohl was founded in 1892 in Germany and for more than 120 years, Poggenpohl “has continued to ‘improve the kitchen’, transforming it from a humble back room into a living space that’s at the heart of the home. Their pioneering history includes many firsts, including white lacquer kitchen furniture, ergonomic work-top heights, and the development of the kitchen island.”
Technical expertise, materials of the highest quality, meticulous craftsmanship and trend-setting design go into every Poggenpohl kitchen and I was quite intrigued to see their latest offerings at KBIS (Kitchen Bath Industry Show).
This year at KBIS, Poggenpohl unveiled their new P7350 Kitchen and I must say, it was worth seeing in person. The sleek lines of the cabinets showcased a new interpretation of the classic kitchen lines that emphasizes both the horizontal and vertical lines.
The P7350 has already won 2 awards, the Interior Innovation Award and the Good Design Award.
I had the opportunity to speak to Martin Gill, Global Sales for Poggenpohl, and he tells me that the P7350 will be opening in the States this year ~ great news for all of us!
One of the evening events during BlogTour Vegas was a special Penthouse Tour at the Mandarin Oriental featuring Poggenpohl and the Art of Performance….
Mr. Gill spoke to us about the beauty and sleek lines of the Poggenpohl Kitchen and then he introduced two “performance artists” telling the BlogTour group that high performance is always the standard at Poggenpohl.
Here are some photos of the two performers who were simply breathtaking in their dance…
And of course, I couldn’t miss a photo op where I was the tallest one!
When I spoke to the performers, they told me his background was with the Cirque du Soleil and she studied ballet for years. In addition to special programs and events, they often model in some of these positions for Las Vegas sculpture artist Richard MacDonald who says that “figurative art is a very difficult thing to do…”
Many of Mr. MacDonald’s sculptures were on display throughout the penthouse suite.
The next day at KBIS I had the opportunity to see Poggenpohl’s P7350 in person and it did not disappoint! Here are a few details shots of the beautiful cabinetry…
The cabinets and drawers have interior lighting. I was thrilled to see this because this feature was one of the highlights of the Milan Salone del Mobile (where we visited with BlogTour Milan last Spring).
Additionally, Poggenpohl also offers a variety of waste bin options for recycling ~ which I understand they have been addressing for years due to Europe’s regulations.
Jeff Roberts, U.S. Sales Manager, spoke about the products with great enthusiasm.
I was honored to participate in an interview with him as well. I haven’t seen the finished video yet, but I hope to share it soon!
The “art of performance” is one of the guiding philosophies of Poggenpohl. They are creative and innovative, I wonder what they are working on next!

Pamela
