I have one final post to share with you from the Brizo sponsored Blogger 19 Reunion Trip to Memphis. In conjunction with our visit to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, we also toured The Target House. The Target House in Memphis works with St. Jude’s to offer housing for young patients and their families who are undergoing treatment for more than 3 months.
This house features 96 fully-furnished, two-bedroom apartments. Each apartment is equipped with a full kitchen (including cookware, dinnerware, glassware, flatware, etc.), one queen and two twin beds, bath and bed linens, sofa, and an entertainment center (source). This beautiful facility also features a communal kitchen, common rooms and even a Candy Land playground!
One of the first floor visiting rooms is sponsored by snowboarder Shaun White, isn’t it great?
Don’t eat the apples, they are just for looking!
If the weather allows, visitors tend to go outside and gather around this sculpture garden of elephants. Each one is named and they are so playful, it makes everyone smile!
This room is truly child-sized and so sweet:
This is the Amy Grant Music Room where the patients can come and play the piano or listen to a concert now and then.
There is even a special place for teens ~ colorful and with computer access (naturally):
Now onto to a country music star~Brad Paisley! Love the details in this room!
You must know my obsession with chandeliers by now, I love this one created with guitars ~ woohoo!
Love the cowboy boot display, did they get this idea from me????
Freddy’s boots from Fairy Godmother Sandy W. age 4:
All of the patterns on the wall are stencils, isn’t this one ultra creative?
What a fun way to recycle guitar picks~as a table top!
Throughout Target House, there is art work everywhere…. Love these whimsical collages!
When celebrities visit Target House they are asked to draw an elephant for this long hallway. Take a peek at the elephants by John Mayer and Cynthia Rowley:
Of course there is an Art Room!
The Dining Room has a Stage… heaven!
Love this idea for displaying “Kid Art”: place fun white frames on the wall with a bulletin board in the center~ so easy to switch out the art~ genius!
Great colors in this Common Room:
Love this chair!
This was an extraordinary experience and I will forever be touched by these days in Memphis.
Thank you again, Brizo!

Pamela
