A Poem & A Painting: The Dress

The final countdown is here! In 6 days until my little girl Emily and her fiancé Nick say I Do!
I knew this day would come, was coming, but I am still feeling very sentimental about this giant step. Emily will become a wife and and at some point, a mother. She will have other people relying on her and there will be a new dynamic in our family…and yet will there be? After all, she’ll always be my little girl and I’ll always be her Mom. I am so excited to welcome Nick and his family into ours. He makes my sweet girl so happy and brings so much joy to her life. He is a great friend to my son Freddy and to me.
Today’s poem beautifully illustrates a glimpse into my feelings as Emily & Nick’s wedding approaches…
For My Daughter
From the first day that I held you and looked into your eyes,
I thought I knew the road ahead but each day brought surprise.
I promised to delight you with new and wondrous things,
but truth be told the delight was mine each time you spread your wings.
I tried to give you freedom, yet shelter you from harm,
it would have been so simple just to keep you safe and warm.
But your spirit always boundless, needed room for you to soar,
and I watched with awe and pride, as you opened each new door.
Now you’re getting married your life begins anew,
like the moment I first held you, my love will go with you.

Today’s painting is “an oldie but a goodie” and oh-so appropriate…
Stay tuned as I share the beautiful details from the wedding of a designer’s daughter after May 9th. I hope your week is filled with love and joy!
xoxo,
Pamela
