A Poem & A Painting: Happy 80th Birthday

I have a special place in my heart for “decade” birthdays. I have a group of dear friends (aka The Clinique Gang) and for years we have gathered to celebrate one another’s milestone birthdays. I painted this week’s painting for a friend’s Mom who is celebrating her 80th Birthday ~ woo hoo! She is hoping to receive 80 cards and I was happy to send mine along!
I thought this poem/verse made a nice accompaniment to this week’s painting…
Birthday Blessings
Instead of counting candles,
Or tallying the years,
Contemplate your blessings now,
As your birthday nears.
Consider special people
Who love you, and who care,
And others who’ve enriched your life
Just by being there.
Think about the memories
Passing years can never mar,
Experiences great and small
That have made you who you are.
Another year is a happy gift,
So cut your cake, and say,
“Instead of counting birthdays,
I count blessings every day!”

And just in case you are wondering, no there are not 80 candles ;-).
