A Poem & A Painting: Dreaming Of Flowers, Always

You may recognize this week’s painting, I posted an “in progress” shot back in November. It usually doesn’t take me over 2 months to complete a painting but with design work, home renovations, the holidays and my BlogTour KBIS trip, this one took quite a while(!). I was thrilled to be able to spend time in my studio this weekend finishing it up. This is a larger canvas and I’m thrilled with how it turned out…
from Flowers In Winter
How strange to greet, this frosty morn,
In graceful counterfeit of flower,
These children of the meadows, born
Of sunshine and of showers!
How well the conscious wood retains
The pictures of its flower-sown home,
The lights and shades, the purple stains,
And golden hues of bloom!
It was a happy thought to bring
To the dark season’s frost and rime
This painted memory of spring,
This dream of summertime.

Dreaming Of Flowers, Always, oil painting by Pamela Copeman
I love flowers and bouquets throughout the year but find them particularly cheerful during the somewhat dreary months of a New England winter.
Of course I was thrilled to escape to Orlando, Florida for the KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industry Show) for a few days last week ~ not that I spent too much time out in the sunshine 🙂 . We were delightfully busy seeing all the latest and greatest that the Kitchen & Bath industry has to offer. If you follow me on Instagram (you should!), you saw quite a few peeks at the show floor and some of the fabulous events we attended. I can’t wait to share more details of the amazing products and innovations here on Posh Palettes ~ stay tuned!
xo,
Pamela
