A Poem & A Painting: Drawing Figures

“Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is not possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad.”
~Salvador Dali
I drew/sketched this nude in a class with Dianne Panarelli Miller. It was called an academic drawing class. The lessons were VERY precise and measured, involving charcoal and dust and erasers (many for me). I can’t say I really enjoyed this class because it was so controlled with lots of paper folds and grid lines. I am more the type of artist that prefers to freehand draw ~ although I certainly need this training because my sketching is NOT great.
Dianne is one of the best teachers I have experienced and I keep going back to her because she pushes me to get to the next level in my artwork. I am so happy I have kept most of my work from her classes. In fact this piece found a home in my newly designed Powder Room (reveal coming soon). Thank you Diane!
