“Start spreading the news,
I’m leaving today
I want to be a part of it,
New York, New York.”
New York is one of my favorite cities in the world. I adore the pace, the energy, the fashion, the windows, the museums, the art, the sidewalk retail, and yes, even the hot dogs on the street (I am not dead yet ~ yummy)! Christmas in New York is the BEST!
I was there visiting a week ago and caught some of the preparations before the big unveiling of the holiday decorations this week and next. Let me know what you think…
Only in New York… stylin’ nails!
This bike is my favorite color this year and I love the hand brakes… l’orange!
Of course Tommy Bahama doesn’t have to worry about slush the way I will in about 2 weeks~
Who says you have to have an evergreen tree? I rather like this grass skirted tree, don’t you?
The massive ornate key door pulls allows you to enter the Ted Baker store on 5th Avenue… I really want this on my condo door…too much?
The interior of Saks was still in the process of it’s Christmas transformation, I love the ceiling already…
Bronze sculpture by Paul Manship at Rockefeller Center
While THE Rockefeller Center Tree is being decorated it is kept under wraps until the grand unveiling and official tree lighting, this year on December 4th.
Did you know that this year’s tree is a 76 foot, 12 ton Norway Spruce tree from Connecticut? It will be illuminated with 30,000 lights and 5 miles of wiring…whew!
I strongly recommend splurging on lunch at the rink level café where you can watch skaters of all levels try to make their way around and around the rink.
I love the magnitude of the statue Atlas
You know the Season of Giving has begun when you hear the bells of the Salvation Army. I have to admit I have never seen 2 more entertaining bell ringers… singing and dancing…who could refuse a donation?
Lastly, a hand covered peek into the semi-transparent Lord and Taylor window reveals a theme of… Yeti? Look closely and you may see what I mean in the top right corner…
I was inspired by skates after my visit to NYC…
Christmas is about a month away and I hope you enjoy the spirit of the lights and smiles of those you will be with this season. For me, the season is about the thought that goes into the words on the card, or the token of a hand painted gift that counts. I encourage all of you to slow down and enjoy the precious gift of friends and family, these are after all the best gifts of all!
xo,
Pamela
