The Arctic air has arrived in the Northeast and this week has been cold. When you are faced with a sub zero wind chill outside, inside seems like the best place to be. What could make it even better? How about cozying up in front of a warm gas fireplace!

This week’s Posh Picks some beautiful and stylish takes on this easy and efficient winter hot spot…

My first pick has both a unique shape and location.

A fireplace in the bathroom is the ultimate in luxury. The vertical shape is a stylish addition to the built-in shelving. Such an idyllic spot to relax on a winter’s night!

Perhaps you live somewhere that the bitter cold isn’t an issue. No worries, we are now seeing gas fireplaces made for the outdoors ~ perfect for terraces, patios and decks.

Both functional and romantic, perfect for enjoying cool evenings and mornings.

I love the elegance of this gas fireplace as well as the clean yet feminine style of the room design. Do you notice anything special inside the fireplace?

Absent are the predictable ceramic logs and lava rocks, replaced with sparkling and elegant Fire Glass from a company called Blazing Glass. I love the description from their website, “flames dance and sparkle off luminous jewel-like glass, creating an ambiance that is both modern and sophisticated”~ not to mention Posh!

If Fire Glass doesn’t fit you style, they also have a selection of ceramic fire balls in colors to complement a wide variety of designs.
