A Poem & A Painting: First Snow

We woke up to our first snow of the season here south of Boston ~ sort of. It snowed late last night but by this morning it had changed to rain and we had our first slush of the season 😉 . I think a painting of a lamb in snow is much more picturesque than a lamb in slush, don’t you?…
from The First Snowfall
The snow had begun in the gloaming,
And busily all the night
Had been heaping field and highway
With a silence deep and white.
Every pine and fir and hemlock
Wore ermine too dear for an earl,
And the poorest twig on the elm-tree
Was ridged inch deep with pearl.
From sheds new-roofed with Carrara
Came Chanticleer’s muffled crow,
The stiff rails were softened to swan’s-down,
And still fluttered down the snow.
I stood and watched by the window
The noiseless work of the sky,
And the sudden flurries of snow-birds,
Like brown leaves whirling by.

Fleece As White As Snow, oil on board by Pamela Copeman
December has turned into a busy month for me which means new interior design projects (hurray), but nothing that’s ready to blog quite yet. Looking forward to lots more design content in the new year, kickstarted by my upcoming trip to KBIS in Orlando in January with Modenus! As always, the best way to get your daily dose of inspiration and behind the scenes from me between blog posts is to follow me on Instagram: @pamela_copeman_design and @pamelacopemanart.
Have a wonderful week!
xo,
Pamela
