30 Paintings in 30 Days: September Edition

Once again I am participating in Leslie Saeta’s 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge. Leslie’s Painting Challenge attracts artists from all over the world. In fact for this go around, there are 1,008 artists from 25 countries participating! I previously participated in January, when I completed 30(ish) Paintings over the course of the month (those paintings can be viewed here).
With this being my second Challenge I am thrilled but also a bit nervous about once again committing to painting and posting each day. Leslie insists that the Challenge should be fun and if we miss a day not to get too “crazy”. Of course, my nature is to be strict with myself and “make it work” as Tim Gunn would say. The benefit in creating a piece everyday is that it forces me to select, compose, draw, and paint quickly. I try to complete a 6″x6″ oil in about 1.5 hrs. I’ll admit, sometimes the painting seems to paint itself, other times I struggle, overpaint and really dislike the finished product…so please don’t judge me too harshly ;-).
For the last challenge in January my theme was Interiors, which I adored. This time, my creativity is being pulled in so many directions: planning a wedding with my daughter, working on a large design project and re-decorating areas of my own home. I decided to do a mélange of paintings which I’m calling Caught My Fancy. I have so many photos I’ve wanted to paint and I plan to select one each day.
I’m already having fun with this challenge and am looking forward to surprising everyone with the variety of my subjects. Please stop by my blog to see what I am painting for the next month and I’d love to hear what you think!
Many of the participating artists post their work each day on Leslie Saeta’s site. You can view those paintings here: Slices of Life by Leslie Saeta . In addition to my blog and Leslie’s blog, you can also view my paintings on my September 30 Paintings in 30 Days Pinterest board.
If you are interested in purchasing any of the paintings in this post, please email me.
Wish me luck!

Pamela
