I am so proud to say I have completed the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge for the 3rd time!

This experience was more fun that the past (January 2014 & October 2014) in that I knew what to expect ~ with the exception of wrist surgery and my Mom being very sick. I’ve learned from past “30 in 30s” how to manage the challenge of setting aside time each day to paint, to plan forward in prepping for the next day, and having all of my materials available.
Prior to January 1st I contemplated the “theme” for this round of the Challenge. For me to find inspiration for 30 paintings, I usually like to have a theme in mind. The first challenge I did all things “Interior” (wrap-up post here) and the second time I painted “My Favorite Things” (wrap-up post here). This time however nothing struck me until I jumped in. I ended up painting with the theme “My Favortite Colors” for the first 20 days: Pink, Day 1-10, Orange, Day 10-20 and for the last 10 paintings I went with a looser theme of using all of the “Colors of a Kaleidoscope”.
This time around I found my inspiration on Instagram, Google images, and from magazine clippings. I followed my instincts in choosing my subject. Most of my favorite paintings from this round were a bit more challenging to execute (i.e. Pink Bell Sleeve) but I am most proud of them.
Completing 30 Paintings in 30 Days has been a great start to my year on so many levels. I hope to continue this discipline for the next 11 months. I love reading your comments (constructive or other wise) here and on Instagram so please keep them coming! I I hope you choose something to work on this year that makes your heart sing.
“It’s a helluva start, being able to recognize what makes you happy.”
