Posh Parties: Designing A Bridal Shower
Jul 30 2014 ·0Tis the season to shower brides with love and best wishes. Yes, my head is filled with hearts and flowers and romance since my own daughter, Emily, has gotten engaged. This weekend was the icing the on the cake (hehehe) as Emily co-hosted the Bridal Shower of her dear friend Jessica at my home.
Here is a look of the event from the “behind the scenes” to the actual party, along with some of my tips for a memorable and meaningful gathering. Hopefully you will find some inspiration for your next event!

Revisiting the Brizo Blogger 19 Reunion Trip to St. Jude Hospital
Jul 22 2014 ·0It’s hard to believe a year has gone by since the Brizo Blogger 19 Reunion trip to Memphis. I still look back fondly on that trip, and all the wonderful events I’ve been fortunate to be a part of since being selected into my Blogger 19 group. I am truly honored to be associated with a company like Brizo, who not only creates exquisitely functional products, but gives back to the community in such meaningful and special ways.
Take a peek at my post from last year and our amazing visit to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a day I will never forget…
A Poem & A Painting: Umbrellas at the Tides Inn
Jul 21 2014 ·0I just returned from the BEST vacation with my family! Re-entry back into the “real world” is hard, but I am feeling so blessed and thankful for our time together at Goose Rocks Beach in Maine. Today’s painting is fresh off the easel, painted this morning, and the poem is one I’ve always loved.
Feeling appreciative for Summer, family, and life…

Faces of Guatemala 2014, Part 1
Jul 16 2014 ·0In one respect at least this year was no different from last year in Guatemala; I was drawn to the faces of not only the children and the women of the village but also the beautiful hard working faces of our team. When I returned home and reviewed my photos, I found I have dozens of beautiful smiles and dark eyes, some with turned up corners, some more serious. I hope to do a series of paintings ~ The Faces that Touched my Heart. Stay tuned! For today, I wanted to share some of the precious Faces of Guatemala 2014…

Jul 09 2014 ·0Continuing on with the story of my trip to Guatemala this year…
Back on site, we are getting there~
The Steps I Took: Guatemala 2014, Part 1
Jul 08 2014 ·0“Never doubt that a small group of concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
~Margaret Mead
My experience in Guatemala last year was so profound, that I decided to volunteer again this year with Team Kelly Kole through Catalyst Resources International. I really wasn’t sure what I would take away this year. Certainly, I knew more of what to expect as far as the conditions, the food and the poverty. What I didn’t expect was all of the questions I had about the future of the children, the education of young women and the corruption in the government.
As best I could, I’ve tried to convey my experiences and feelings about this year’s trip through my words and pictures. Lots of pictures…
