Whether through her daily paintings, our Girls Just Wanna Paint group, or her warm friendship, Lisa’s genuine spirit and appreciation for simple beauty shines through. A Poem & A Painting: The Countess’ Chandelier

Yes, once again this week’s painting was inspired by the BlogTour Milan trip. And yes, once more it is a chandelier. No apologies, I just loved painting this one!

This particular chandelier was in the Dining Room of the Countess Barbuto’s home in Venice. I actually gasped when I saw it because of its beauty, breadth and the magnitude it gave the room. As for this week’s “poem” (it’s a quote), I couldn’t agree more!…

Chandeliers of Venice & Milan

If you know me or if you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you know I have a Chandelier fetish (oh, and also a shoe fetish, but that’s a different post!) I simply adore chandeliers of all shapes and sizes. In my own home, I have pendant fixtures in closets and hallways, a crystal chandelier over my dining table and a chandelier on my deck. Wait, doesn’t everyone?? In my humble opinion, everyone should!

Perhaps I love chandeliers because they are romantic, perhaps I love them because I delivered morning newspapers when I was young and I was afraid of the dark, or perhaps I love them simply because they are works of art and I am entranced by the way they sparkle and create patterns on the ceiling. While I was in Venice and Milan with BlogTour, I saw many wonderful chandeliers. Here are some beauties, old and new, that I want to share with you…

Trend Spotting for NKBA in Italy

The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) is a longstanding sponsor of BlogTour events, including BlogTour Milan. As such, our group had the privilege of meeting NKBA President, John Petrie in Milan. John, along with the other NKBA representatives that we met, were among the most friendly and enthusiastic professionals I have encountered. They are clearly passionate about delivering only the best for their membership.

As we explored the world of kitchens and baths at Eurocucina and Salone del Mobile, we were tasked with reporting back on trends that we spotted at the shows. One of the guiding principles for the NKBA is to provide leadership and direction for the kitchen and bath industry and its members. There were so many innovations and no lack of eye candy, it was hard to narrow down my list!
